2007.5-09 LMM Duramax Diesel Performance Parts & Products
All trucks built in 2007 or later, including the Duramax, had to meet new emission standards. These are the new body style Duramax diesel trucks introduced mid year in 2007. One of the biggest changes was the introduction of particulate filters in the exhaust. These filters trap all the soot and will go into a regeneration mode about once every tank of fuel. Diesel fuel is injected into the exhaust system by the fuel injectors spraying fuel in the exhaust stroke of the engine. This super heats the exhaust and the filter and cleans the filter much like a self cleaning oven. Using fuel to clean the exhaust is having a negative effect on fuel mileage.
