With the release of the completely redesigned 6.0L Powerstroke in 2003 came a host of new upgrades and technology for these trucks. One of the upgrades was the release of the Variable Vane Turbo from Garrett. Unfortunately, this design saw several downfalls, mostly in that the vanes were prone to getting stuck in a single position due to soot accumulation. While Garrett may have made improvements to these turbos over the years, there are still several short comings to the factory turbo to what some of the aftermarket has come to produce. Rotomaster builds this replacement that is designed to be a drop-in replacement for your factory unit but with several improvements over the factory unit. This turbo is upgraded to a higher flowing billet vane pack which has shown a 12 horsepower increase and additional flow capabilities in comparison to the stock turbo, as well as an upgraded stainless steel unison ring, and even comes with a brand new solenoid!

2200 Miles and I'm having to replace it

"I'd give it less than 1 star actually. I have no idea why it failed, but failed it did. I hardly ever drive this truck but when I do I don't race it or hot rod it. In fact, I had the original turbo replaced in April of 2017 at 106k and have only driven it 2200 miles since. I asked a reputable mechanic about the issue and he said to just get a Garret and be done with it. He said Rotomasters were pretty much unreliable. I wish I had known."

I am a 30year ford cert. diesel mechanic and . . .

"I am a 30year ford cert. diesel mechanic and to go aftermarket on my truck is not common I have 260K on it now and had to clean turbo several times this time it locked up and after reviews of several replacement turbos Rotomaster looked like a good replacement have it on now for one week and as u can see I do put the miles on grate improvement turbo lag is cut in half so now its just like a new truck again will see in about another 260k"

"I've rated this turbo with four stars only because it will take a couple of years for the full story to be told. How these things last is as important as anything else. But full marks for fit and finish, it's exactly as described, fit perfectly, looks great, and performs exactly like a brand new stock turbo should. Very happy with my choice, plus made in Canada just like me. . . :)"
