BD 48RE Race Transmission

Just that, a RACE TRANSMISSION. This transmission was built to handle the rigors of high horsepower Cummins for the drag strip and tractor pulls. It is intended for trucks that are not driven in day to day traffic, its sole intention is for racing applications. For those of you who DO wish to use this transmission in your driver/weekend warrior rig, contact us. We are able to add less aggressive clutching so it is a managable/semi-streetable truck.

Your transmission was only designed to handle the torque and horsepower the stock engine delivers, and in the case of some Dodge models, even the stock torque can present a challenge. So when you start adding power modules, turbo upgrades and other bolt-ons, its only a matter of time before the transmission wears out and eventually fails. BD transmissions are built specifically to handle the high torque loads of diesel engines at our state-of-the-art transmission facility. We reprogram the valve body for higher line pressure, and add heavy-duty clutches with up to 25% more material than stock. The stock thrust washers, which disintegrate and leave metal filings in your transmission, are replaced with roller Torrington bearings. Each valve body is tested to ensure proper function before we bolt on one of our rigid aluminum transmission pans, which not only adds extra capacity, but reduces case flex.

Finally, each transmission is dyno-tested to make sure it functions properly in all gears before it is shipped to you in one of our containers. Our transmission packages include an auxiliary full flow filter kit, HD Transmission Pan, and a PressureLoc on 1994-2004 model years. BD Race Transmissions also include BILLET INPUT AND OUTPUT SHAFTS!!! Other options to consider when replacing your transmission are to mate the BD transmission with one of our Torque Converters and Flex Plates for added performance and strength. A torque converter can be added to this transmission at checkout for an additional charge. Call for details! We'll be happy to answer your transmission questions.

CORE CHARGES

Lower 48 States:

We do not charge an up front core charge in the lower 48 states, we will cover the return core shipping and the core must be returned with in 21 days or your credit card will be charged.

The FREE FREIGHT promotion we offer for free delivery and pick up of your core on BD transmissions ONLY applies if we are shipping and picking up the transmission from a commercial address. Please include the name of the business in the shipping address line for confirmation. If you are unable to ship to a commercial address, you have two options. We can either bill you an additional $300, which is the difference it typically costs for shipping and picking up from a residential address, and we will coordinate the pickup up your core. OR, you have the option to pay no additional charge to us, but you will be responsible for paying the return freight of the core back to BD. Please contact us with any questions, or you may leave what you would like to do in the comments box. Typically, we will contact you with any questions that may arise regarding the ship to address.
