2005.5-2014 5.9L/6.7L Dodge Cummins

This is "THE" clutch for the guy that tows heavy with a modified truck.  Good daily driving manners along with plenty of holding power.  If you insist on drag racing with a manual truck this clutch would also be a good choice due to it's fast shifting characteristics and optional SFI rated billet flywheel.

It is not a good choice for sled pulling due to it's 12 1/4" flywheel.  The non-SFI rated flywheel option is a great option for guys who don't care anything about competition use but just want a driveable clutch with tons of holding power.


Rated for up to 650HP

These clutches are a great alternative to the weak factory clutch with a dual mass flywheel and are suitable (depending on surfacing options) from everything from a stock truck to a highly modified truck.   

2 Available Surfacing Options

  • Organic/Organic (rated to 550 HP) Suitable for stock and mildly modified trucks pulling heavy weight.  Great hot shot clutch.  Smoothest engagement.
  • Ceramic/Ceramic (rated to 650 HP) Suitable for modified trucks needing the extra holding power of a dual disc and the quick shifting characteristics that a diaphragm clutch has to offer.  If you are going to drag race with a manual truck, this would be a great choice.

2 Available Floater Plate Options

  • Standard Floater Plate This is the floater plate that has been used in all existing clutches.  Some trucks have experienced "floater plate rattle" with this design, which is why Valair pioneered a new design (see below)
  • New Floater Plate with Spring Strap As stated above, many trucks have experienced floater plate rattle with the original floater plate design, which is similar in design to what nearly every clutch manufacturer in the industry uses.  This wasn't good enough for Valair, so they took a principle that they've used on the big truck clutches (Class 6,7,8 trucks) and put into effect on the light duty truck market with great success.  A relatively simple design change has proven to eliminate or at least DRASTICALLY reduce this rattle noise.

"If this is supposed to be the quiet twin disc clutch I'd hate to hear the unquiet one. My 08 Ram 2500 was pretty quiet for a diesel but now it sounds like a diesel from th 80s. Not a smooth engagement either."

Diesel Power Products Response:
"When converting from a dual mass flywheel to a solid, one piece flywheel, as is with this clutch, coupled with the aluminum case of a G56, gear rollover noise can be prevalent in some cases. For trucks that produce this rollover noise, Valair recommends overfilling the transmission by a quart to quart and a half and using Delvac 50 oil to reduce and sometimes eliminate this noise."

"2012 ram 3500 4x4 DPF,egt cooler and intake heater deletes and BD intake manifold, s&b cold air intake. Lots of modifications , at 30k miles my factory clutch started slipping, it had too much power for the factory clutch so I purchased this dual disc ceramic clutch kit with quiet floater plate. Yes it does have a slight gear roll over growl in neutral and the clutch peddle is stiffer like the company warns about but that is what to expect with a heave duty clutch like this. But it's not bad to deal with. I waited to post this review until after I ran the break in period and had a chance to tow with it. I tow a combined weight of 29,400 lbs truck trailer tractor bush hog/ hay ect and I love it it defiantly has the holding power I need. I defiantly recommend this clutch by Valair to anyone who has high modifications and tows heavy "

"My 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel burned the clutch up at 67K, of course it not covered by Mopar. I bought one of these awesome clutches, wish they would just offered it as an option from the factory. Go with the noise suppressed version if you don't want to listen to it SNARL in neutral! Soods like a semi now, hooks up like a line lock system, shifts great. I pull my 9,000 LBS 5th wheel with no worries about this one failing. Drive the best, forget the rest! "
