Industrial Injection PhatShaft Turbo
The Industrial Injection PhatShaft is the original benchmark for upgraded turbos for your Cummins. The PhatShaft is the perfect upgrade turbo for Cummins owners who do a lot of towing, or in-town type driving. The PhatShaft is available with a 12 or 14cm turbine housing matched with a 65mm turbine. We suggest a 12 cm turbine housing if the truck is a 12 Valve and has moderate fueling upgrades such as 300hp injectors and a camplate. If the truck has heavier fueling upgrades such as aggressive fueling electronics, 370hp injectors, aggressive camplate and/or governor springs then you will be better suited with 14cm housing. The benefit of the 14cm exhaust housing is lower EGT's (Exhaust Gas Temperatures), but it will be slower to spool in daily driving situations than the 12cm. The original PhatShaft is also available in 3 different compressor sizes, 62mm, 64mm, and 66mm, to better allow you a proper selection to match your requirements. On the PhatShaft 62, the wastegate is set at 40psi to prevent head gasket failure, and 45psi on the PhatShaft 64 and 66. All PhatShaft turbochargers are equipped with dual grooved bearings, extended tip technology, and an adjustable boost elbow for precise control of your airflow. The original PhatShaft compliments moderate fueling upgrades and can support 300 - 550hp. The original PhatShaft turbo is a bolt-in replacement turbo for your stock turbo, but does require an HX40 style downpipe for complete installation.
