Industrial Injection Super PhatShaft Turbo
The
Industrial Injection Super PhatShaft series was designed for trucks
that have multiple fueling upgrades used to tow large loads and trucks
that frequent the track. Super PhatShaft chargers are available in
three size 62mm, 64mm, and 66mm with extended tip technology. What
makes the Super Phatshaft turbos special is the 71mm exducer exhaust
wheel and modified exhaust housing. Industrial Injection invested one
year researching and developing the 71mm turbine to handle the
aggressive fueling demands of many that were not being met otherwise.
From this research the Super Phaftshaft Series of turbochargers was
born. Industrial was the first to develop the 71mm large exhaust
wheel, and also set the standard for the rest of the turbo
industry. It was found that the large exhaust wheel improves
performance for two reasons. First, it lets the exhaust gasses expel
from the charger more efficiently, reducing cylinder backpressure and
lowering EGT’s (Exhaust Gas Temperature). Second, it accelerates rotor
speed to optimize compressor speed for more mid to top end
performance.
The wastegate has custom dual oversized passages and a wastegate spacer
plate for maximum effiency. The Super Phatshaft 62, rated for up to
600HP, is a perfect compliment for those with multiple fueling
enhancements that frequently tow heavy loads. The 64, rated for up to 675HP, is perfect for Cummins that are moderately to heavily
fueled that tow heavy loads, but are still weekend warriors at the
track. Finally, the 66, rated for up to 750HP, is great for trucks
with heavy fueling and need a high performance charger. Like all
PhatShaft turbochargers, it is equipped with dual grooved bearings and
an adjustable boost elbow.
Industrial
Injection's line of Super PhatShaft turbos for the 6.7L Cummins remove the
factory exhaust brake and VGT activation. For this reason, on the
6.7L's, they are NOT a bolt-in application. For a proper installation,
Industrial Injection recommends using an HX40 style downpipe (which
will remove the factory catalytic converter in the downpipe), a 2-piece
Pulse type manifold, and an EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculator) blocker
plate. Also, a Smarty 67ME or H&S Programmer are required for
proper ECM function.
