Banks 6.0L Intercooler to Retrofit to your 7.3L!

1999-2003 7.3L Ford PowerStroke

We at Diesel Power Products have discovered that with a few simple modifications, we were able to install a Banks Techni-Cooler Intercooler designed to fit a 6.0L PowerStroke into a 7.3L.  Now, what would be the benefit of doing such a thing, why not just install the Banks intercooler designed for a 7.3L?  The Banks 6.0L intercooler is much larger than the stock intercooler and has 3.5" tube connections for super flow.  The construction is all metal and the end tanks are a great improvement for flow.  This intercooler provides cooler, denser air for more power and lower Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGTs) especially when towing with a modified truck.

   The Ford 7.3L stock intercooler is on the left and Banks 6.0L intercooler on the right.  Not only is the Banks intercooler much larger than the stock unit, it is also much thicker allowing maximum volume for cooling intake air to the engine.












This image shows how much thicker the Banks 6.0L intercooler is than the stock unit.  In the picture you can clearly see the improvement in the end tanks of the intercooler and the much larger 3.5" connections.  

















The following pictures are of the Banks 6.0L intercooler installed in a 2002 7.3L truck using Banks Techni-Cooler tubes for the 7.3L and our hose kit including hump hose and tube to intercooler adaptors.
   
   


































*NOTE:  If your truck is equipped with an automatic transmission, you will need to move the transmission lines on the passenger side out of the way.  For trucks 99-mid 2001 the transmission lines can be bent to clear the intercooler.  For 2002-2003 models the transmission cooler lines come out the top of the cooler and will interfere with installation of the intercooler.  To resolve this interference you can get the 6.0L transmission cooler with hoses from Ford.

*NOTE:  We do offer the intercooler as a stand alone unit.  However, we recommend using our hose adapters and clamps for a complete installation kit.

*NOTE:  Reuses factory intercooler tubes.
