S&B Filters diesel performance intake kits are all about improving airflow to your truck's engine. The S&B 75-5045 Flows 42.7% better then the OE Induction System while removing 99.81% of the airborne dirt at the Vehicle's Rated Flow. It's just a matter of superior design. It starts with years of research and development, as well as the most technically advanced testing. S&B tests to the ISO 5011 Air Filtration Standard in a climate controlled lab when designing and testing our intake kits. This is the same technology used by Ford, Chrysler and General Motors to design the original induction system that comes on your vehicle. Airflow It all starts with airflow. The more air that your engine breathes, the more oxygen it receives. More oxygen results in a better combustion. Better combustion translates into more power and better fuel economy. This is why your vehicle runs better on cool mornings than on hot afternoons as cool air is denser and contains more oxygen. You can feed your engine more oxygen by reducing the restriction of the airflow. S&B Thorough Research Development During our ISO 5011 testing, we first measure the restriction of the airflow through your vehicle's original induction system in order to establish a baseline. The goal of a Performance Intake Kit is to reduce the restriction of the airflow to your vehicle's engine. In layman's terms, we want to make it easier for the engine to breathe. By reducing the restriction of the airflow, your engine will have better throttle response and produce more horsepower and torque. Since your engine will not have to work as hard to produce the required amount of power Å“ the result is better fuel economy. S&B Backs It Up: Certified Test Results S&B provides ISO 5011 Certified Test Results for its intake kits, so you can see exactly how much the airflow was improved (restriction decreased) as well as the efficiency of the filter. ISO is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies. The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical committees. The specific individual International Standard utilized by S&B and automotive manufacturers establishes and specifies uniform test procedures, conditions, equipment, and a performance report to permit the direct laboratory performance comparison of air cleaners, in this case, those used on internal combustion engines and compressors used in automotive and industrial applications. Many intake kits are available with a DRY DISPOSABLE FILTER! But do you want a disposable filter? This question really comes down to the end user. Since you are not sacrificing performance with either choice, the decision comes down to would you rather throw away the filter or clean it. Always wanted a filter you could just throw away without sacrificing performance? S&B has just the filter for you! Comparable Airflow to our Cotton Filters with the same Great Protection. Last for 15,000 miles of highway driving. Extend the life of the filter using compressed air.

Great design! Pretty easy install!

"Great design! Pretty easy install!"

Mike D. (5/5)

fit well and adaptable

"Put this into my old '98 Chevy 2500. No issues with fit and it's great to be able to see and service the filter (I got the cleaning/oiling kit, too). As a bonus, there's an option to use a removable filter box "plug" during cold weather, for better air flow. We range from near zero to well into the 90s. So, you can pull outside air in summer and engine compartment air in winter by adding/removing the plug. No more pulling salty winter mist through the body metal! Good quality components. You might need to adjust passenger-side battery post clearance (with side posts). Clearance was adjusted with cheap, different connecting posts. I had a winch lead and other extra wires pinched under that post, so that was most of my issue."

This cold air intake was easy to install and . . .

"This cold air intake was easy to install and included all necessary hardware. Instructions were very clear. The only issue I had was that the hood insulation rubbed on the front of the clear cover after install. I removed the assembly and adjusted the fender with a 2 x 4 and hammer. Now the box sits lower and there is no clearance problem. The inlet didnt align with the oval cutout in the fender very well, and my adjustment made it worse. The box sits lower than the cutout so there is a gap between the inlet flange and the fender of about 3/4 to 1 inch. Right now I stuffed some rags around the inlet to keep from ingesting warm air, and I am trying to come up with a more attractive fix. I havent towed with the new air cleaner yet, but the turbo does seem to like less restriction and boost pressure rises quicker than before. I have been hearing a new vibration about 900 rpm that I am thinking might be coming from the filter box. I need an assistant to help me verify, but my concern is that the silicone coupling at the turbo inlet is quite stiff, and I think it may be transmitting vibration. All in all I am happy with the fit and finish of the air box. I will get the mentioned bugs worked out over time."
