For starters, many covers are larger, thus have the ability to hold more oil to aid in cooling. Further, these covers are also typically finned, again, aiding in heat dissipation. Magnetic drain plugs are also common on many covers including Mag-Hytec and aFe, that make oil replacement simple and clean. Read MoreWhile we may spend a great deal of time under our trucks, we definitely aren't upgrading the transmission pan because of its looks. -Type: Chrysler 9.25" ZF 12-Bolt
-Tech Notes: The ZF version of the Chrysler 9.25" was introduced on Ram vehicles in 2011 model years. The ZF is different than the standard 9.25" that has been in production for years. To compare, teh ZF has 12mm x 1.5 left hand thread ring gear bolts, center to center on ring gear bolts is 7.125", where non-ZF have 7/16" x 18 left hand thread ring gear bolts, center to center on ring gear bolts is 6.625".

-Type: ZF 8HP45 TorqueFlite 8 Speed
-Tech Notes: Adaptive electronic control, automatic or Electronic Range Selet (ERS) manual control. Five clutch-pack design with only two open clutches in any gear. Torque converter lock with turbine torsional damper for low lock-up speeds in 1st through 8th gear.
