Method Race Wheels’ motto is “lighter, stronger, faster.” This sounds like a catchy tagline, but is that all its about? Ultimately, its your vehicle’s responsibility to turn your wheel and tire combo to get your 8,000lbs.+ truck rolling down the road. As the weight of the wheel and tire package increases, it takes additional power to move that mass. Thus, the lighter you can make a wheel and tire package, the faster, or more efficient your truck will be. That said, unless you have strength, there’s no point in a light wheel as utter catastrophe can occur. Fortunately, Methos Race Wheels has a sharp focus on weight reduction while maintaining or increasing strength, alleviating concerns over safety, all netting a better overall product.

METHOD RACE WHEELS

The next thing to address is the name: Method Race Wheels. Does this mean that these wheels are intended for racing applications? Well, maybe in the early days of Method, but that is long gone. The majority of Method Race Wheels’ catalog are for street vehicle, but the name pays homage to the engineering put into every wheel design that results in a high performance package at ever corner.

METHOD OFF ROAD WHEELS

The next thing to discuss would be the offroad styling of their wheels. Are Method wheels specifically designed for offroad use? No way! While MRW does offer a lineup of legitimate bead lock wheels, the majority of their styles featuring some kind of bolt at the wheel’s lip (or bead), these are merely for styling, sometimes called a simulated bead lock. Now, what Method does realize is that many of us are weekend warriors. We either commute to work in our trucks all week, or we work our trucks all week, but then on the weekends we like to hit some offroad trails. In these instances, we may air down our tires for better traction. Method has us covered with their unique Bead Grip technology that ensures a better wheel to tire seal even at lower air pressures.

WHEEL OFFSET EXPLAINED

  • Offset: Measured from center line of wheel to mounting surface
  • Backspace: Measures from inner lip of wheel to mounting surface
  • Positive Offset: Outside center line of the wheel. This brings the wheel in towards the center of the vehicle. Typically found on vehicles that are stock, leveled or lifted up to 3”
  • Negative Offset: Inside center line of the wheel. This pushes the wheel out away from center of the vehicle. Typically found on vehicles lifted over 3”

We get a lot of calls and e-mails each day with various product, vehicle, and installation questions. Some are completely off the wall and can even catch us off guard at times, but many others are fairly routine, so we thought we'd post some of the most popular questions regarding Method Race Wheels that can hopefully be a good resource for you.

Q: What bolt patterns do Method Race Wheels come in?
A: Method offers a variety of bolt patterns. You’ll be able to find the following here on our website. 5x5, 5x5.5, 6x5.5, 6x135, 8x6.5, 8x170, 8x180

Q: What is the difference between Bead-locks, Bead-Grip, and Standard wheels?
A: Bead-lock wheels, bead grip wheels, and standard wheels are three distinct types of off-road vehicle rims, each designed with specific features to cater to different driving needs. Bead-lock wheels have an outer ring that clamps the tire's bead in place, preventing it from dislodging during low tire pressure situations, such as off-road rock crawling. Method bead grip wheels, on the other hand, employ a reinforced inner lip and specific design elements to provide a secure grip on the tire bead without the need for an external locking ring. This design promotes consistent tire-to-wheel contact and is popular among off-road enthusiasts for its balance of weight savings and reliable performance. Standard wheels, in contrast, lack these specialized features and rely on the tire pressure to maintain a proper seal between the tire and the wheel. While suitable for regular on-road driving, they may not provide the same level of security and traction in extreme off-road conditions.

Q: What is the best offset for my 3rd Gen RAM with a leveling kit and 35” tires?
A: We recommend a 0mm so that rubbing is not an issue.

Q: Do Method Wheels come with TPMS installed?
A: No, you will need to have your TPMS moved from your current wheels to your new wheels when mounting.

Q: Are the center caps removable if I have upgraded axles?
A: Yes, you can remove the center cap if you choose.

Q: Does Method Race Wheels offer wheel customization?
A: At this time, Method does not offer customization to their wheels.

Q: What is a wheel offset?
A: Wheel offset measures the distance between the center of the wheel and the mounting surface. When the mounting surface of the wheel is in front of the centerline, that means the wheel has a positive offset. When the mounting surface of the wheel is behind the centerline, that means the wheel has a negative offset. When the mounting surface of the wheel is directly on the centerline, that means the wheel has a +0mm offset.

Q: What is backspacing?
A: Backspacing measures the distance between the inner edge of the wheel and the mounting face of the wheel. Decreased backspacing will result in more inside wheel clearance to reduce the risk of the wheel rubbing the brakes or suspension.

Q: If I have questions later about more technical wheel applications, can you assist me?
A: Yes! You can contact any of our experts at 888.99.DIESEL, Monday through Friday 6 am - 6 pm PST.
