Modern-era diesel engines features a Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor that tells your truck's computer how much pressure (boost) is being sent into the engine. From the factory, the ECM has limits in place that will defuel the engine to avoid what is determined to be excessive boost, and this even occurs with many aftermarket chips or programmers installed. So what's the point of installing a programmer or even a bigger turbo if your truck is just going to derate itself?! The fix is a simple to install "Boost Fooler" or "Boost Builder" from BD-Power that intercepts the signal before its returned to the ECM, allowing for the additional boost your truck is trying to deliver, resulting in an increase in overall performance. These simple to install items plug in-line with the factory MAP sensor and will deliver surprising results.
