Well, the premise for upgrading to headers really isn't that different than the reasoning to upgrade the exhaust manifold(s) on your diesel, its all about getting air out of the engine and getting it out fast. Remember, your diesel engine is basically a big air pump and the faster you can get it out of your engine, that in turn spools the turbo to allow more airflow to get sucked into the engine.
