Upgrading the turbo from the restrictive factory IHI turbos featured on the LB7's or the problematic variable geometry turbos on the LLY, LBZ, LMM, and LML trucks offers extreme performance gains, as well as enhancing reliability. Unfortunately, the pedestal flange that the turbo mounts to is unique to these turbos, and doesn't allow for fitment of standard performance turbos that featureT3 or T4 style mounting.
In order to mount any of the popular S300, S400, etc. style chargers, you will require a pedestal designed for accomplishing this. This ATS Shorty Pedestal is unique because of its "Shorty" design that places the new turbo exactly in the factory location. What this means, is that you do not have to replace your downpipe or even your cold air intake, saving tons of money and headache. All other kits require these items to be replaced because the turbo placement is higher than factory, which also creates clearance issues at the firewall.
For those wanting to run 5000 series or larger turbos, this pedestal will not work due to clearance issues with the compressor housing. Pedestal is ceramic coated black for a long service life.
