One of the most frequent issues associated with these trucks is that of a dead pedal, or random surging stemming from a problematic throttle position sensor (accelerator pedal position sensor). This is a direct replacement APPS for the 1998.5-2004 trucks where the APPS is located below the intake manifold on both automatic and manual transmission equipped trucks.

great cost effective part, worked great out of the box!!
Part worked great, instructions were easy for setup. Best for cost, this part was $700 (not a typo) locally in northern BC, canada. Was the way to go, truck now drives great without surging throttle.

I would buy this again. Just hope I don't have too.
Hooked up in 15 minutes. Took away the surging I had from dead spots in my old apps.

The part and services is great. But sad to say it didn't fix my problem.

Thanks so much for the review, but sorry it didn't solve the problem. The APPS is a very failure prone item on these trucks, but some symptoms can be shared by the APPS, such as VP44 (on 98.5-02 trucks), or lift pump on either. At least those are the two most prevalent issues that can act like an APPS (stuttering under constant throttle).

Thanks so much for the great review. Two throttles, I think you may be onto something here. Two throttles equates to twice the power, right?! =)

Is this just the APPS without having to replace the the metal bell crank bracket as well? Will this APPS work with a Banks exhaust brake??

Yes that is just a replacement APPS it fastens to the bracket with a couple screws. It would work with the Banks Brake.

I bought a 04 6spd Cummins that has this part going bad. Guy told me the manuals and automatics are different and mine is supposedly located under driver side battery? Was the guy wrong? Wanted to know before ordering. Thanks in advance.?

The APPS sensor is not located there no. They are always located on the engine under the intake horn.

I have a 2001 Dodge and my apps is acting up. I mistakenly messed with the bell crank set screw. Does this new apps require adjusting this screw as part of the installation procedure? I don't have anyway of knowing the original position of this screw on my truck. Actually I adjusted this screw thinking I could increase the idle a bit and thats when my problem started. Thanks?

There is probably a procedure to adjust it with a voltmeter hooked up. But I would not have any instructions to do it. Most APPS will have a idle validation switch. If that is never activated it will throw a code. DppSands.
