One of the most common failures of the 68RFE six speed automatic transmissions is case failure. And even if you build your transmission for increased power, this will still not prevent against the case cracking. Many will argue that adding an aftermarket transmission pan will alleviate this issue as they are built stronger than the factory stamped steel units they replace, in turn providing rigidity to the case. While this may help, its still not enough. The only way you can rest assured you will not be left with a gaping hole in the side of your expensive transmission is with the installation of a case brace.

Do you stock this or is it a drop ship item directly from ats??
These have just been released and are not in stock yet, these would currently be a drop ship.
I see that this is installed on top of the transmission... does that mean that it can only be installed when the trans is not in the truck or can it be installed from underneath the vehicle??
You would need to lower the transmission/engine slightly to gain access in order to install that. It can be done, would be much easier if you already had it out though.
how does this brace attach to the case? are there preexisting bolt holes? is drilling and tapping required? if so does the brace include all required hardware and complete detailed instructions with digital photos??
It is a bolt on unit. Uses existing bolt holes. Comes with all the hardware needed. I don't recall if there is instructions or not, but it is a straight forward install, will only go on one way.
