Even though many know PPEI as the most capable at building horsepower, they also specialize in maximizing the efficiency and reliability of the everyday Duramax built for towing and daily driving. The platform in which we offer PPEI's tuning is via the EFILive AutoCal, and comes preloaded with five custom tunes tailored for how your truck is setup and how you use your truck.

DSP5 option

What's the use of having multiple power levels if you can't switch them on the fly? For those that would like this ability, we offer several options:

-You can add a DSP5 Switch, which is a simple rotary knob that will allow you to toggle between the five power levels on the fly.

-You can add a DSP5 Key Lock Switch, which is similar to the standard DSP5 Switch, but it includes a key that must be engaged in order to change the power levels. For vehicles that have multiple drivers and you want the ability to lock a power level in place, this is ideal.

-The 2001-2005 Duramax's has the ability to toggle between these power levels through the Edge Insight (similar to when using the DSP5 switch). PPEI needs to know if you plan using the Edge Insight, because it must be programmed into the AutoCal. If you do not plan on using the Edge Insight please select the DSP5 switch.

For 2006-2010 model years, the DSP5 Switch is the only method to change tunes

For those with an automatic transmission equipped Duramax, you have the option to add PPEI's exclusive TCM (Transmission Control Module) tuning that will deliver a crisp shift pattern optimized to work in tandem with their engine tuning calibration. For people selecting TCM tuning PPEI needs the operating system number from the TCM which is not retrievable without the Autocal first. You will need to retrieve your TCM Operating system number once you receive your autocal and call us back with it to get the TCM tuning that will then be sent to your email in 1-2 business days. It’s as advertised
I bought this programmer to try and get better mileage pulling my 5th wheel RV. I haven’t had a chance yet but I did tow my enclosed cargo trailer on a 5500 km trip and the two options on this programmer definitely performed better than stock. I’ll be curious to see what it’s like with the big trailer but so far so good. I only gave it 4 stars for now as I don’t give stars away Willy nillie. I’m sure it will be better than stock though.

2007 LBZ Duramax Crew Cab Long Bed 4x4
My 07 LBZ is mostly stock. Straight piped factory exhaust, ported fuel rail, fuel pressure relief valve delete plug, K&N filter in factory box, rebuilt Allison with HD billet torque converter and kevlar clutches. 31.5 inch tires (26570R17). That's it. I installed the Kory Willis PPEI DSP5 tunes and wow. Totally different truck! Idle sounds better, engine transmission and turbo is smoother. The engine revs are smoother. Tune 1 drives great. Tune 2 has turbo brake for heavy towing, tune 3 is fast!!! I haven't even touched tune 4 or 5 yet. Lol Fuel mileage has been better too. Best money I've spent on my truck so far. Love these tunes! I followed the instructions in the package for installing the DSP5 switch. I had to Google and use YouTube to get a visual reference for the pin locations at the engine computer connector. A simple black and white connector diagram would have been nice to have in the package. But doing a little internet research didn't take long. There's a lot of info on installing these switches online. I used the website link in the package for the AutoCal install instructions and the tune install went smoothly and everything worked great! I highly recommend the PPEI DSP5 tunes!

Appreciate your feedback! I actually have PPEI tunes on my LLY and had a similar experience going from stock tuning to the PPEI tuning. I remember the first time I let her rip in tune 3 I had the biggest grin. May or may not have smoked the tires from 20mph to 40. Tuned LBZ trucks are hard to beat, great engine and transmission. Glad you like the product, if you have any questions or looking for some more parts look us up! I would check out a FASS Titanium or Airdog next. You will need it once you start using 4 and 5.

I cant believe i went almost 10 years without buying custom tunes for my lb7 duramax had edge juice with attitude. I thought that was cool in the beginning but was i mistaken had issues while trying to load the tunes on my truck but between ppei and you guys i got it all figured out thanks so much my truck hauls as* now too cool cant wait till summer

I have had a variety of tuners and this tunin...
I have had a variety of tuners and this tuning set up has been the most impressive. Install was a little more involved then the sales representative made it out to be only because I would of liked diagram to follow which wasn't included. The other issue is when you cold start the truck it will blue/gray smoke maybe related maybe not. All together a impressive product at a great price, best feature I think is the turbo braking on the tow tune. Thanks power performance.

Kory's tunes are awesome! I had the ECM efi live tuned before but these tunes are so much better! Smooth power through all levels, no more limp mode, and best of all minimum smoke even on the race tune!! PPEI is the best!!

I purchased a autocal a few years ago. I just started pulling trailers and was under the impression that the tow tune was equipped with a turbo brake. I don't seem to notice any effect on deceleration compared to other tunes while pulling. How can I test that the function is actually working. And if the tune needs to be adjusted to allow for the turbo brake how do I go about getting it adjusted. Thanks?

That would be completely dependent on who did the tuning for you a few years ago. Each company that uses the autocal as a platform can make different tunes that are loaded onto the device. Your best bet would be to contact the tuner directly to see if they have record on what was loaded onto that autocal.

Does Kory's auto cal have tcm tuning included with each tune? Thanks Jeff?

No sir, the TCM tuning is additional, it requires a file be made to flash the tcm which has to be separate from the ecm tunes. Once the tcm is flashed that tune is always there.

I have a 2004 lb7 duramax and want this on it. What 5 tunes does it come with and is this all I need? I drive the truck daily and want to have the most torque and horsepower without blowing the tips off my injectors and destroying my transmission. I currently have the flash paq super chip and its just terrible. Gains are hardly recognizable even on performance mode. Looking to get a ton of power then what stock has to offer Thanks?

That is an excellent programmer for what you want it to do. Tunes would be Economy, Towing, Street, Hot, and Race. I would recommend someway to monitor your trucks vitals, gauges or a monitor. The tuning is rather aggressive and can damage components if misused. The top two tunes we do recommend an aftermarket fuel lift pump also, contact us for options!

This is in regards to previous question and response: I have the 2004 lb7 duramax that I drove everyday. Which would be a better more cost effective way to monitor? The gauges or monitor? Also you suggest getting a after market fuel and lift pump, if I get those before I buy the programmer, will you have a special tune for it? And lastly, what are the horsepower and torque for the street, hot, and race? Thanks for all your help and quick response?

As far as monitoring is concerned both ways will work just fine, it merely comes down to personal preference. Some individuals prefer analog type gauges over a display screen and some prefer the monitoring screen over analog gauges. On the 01-16 Duramax engines we would recommend getting a lift pump and a lift pump would not negate special tuning. They build these tuners with the impression that you have or will be doing a lift pump if you are running the higher levels. Street is typically 90-110hp, hot is 120-150hp and race is 150+.

I just bought the ego w/ Kory tunes from you. What is the specific gains with the Kory Duramax tunes. All stock LMM with K&N air filter.?

The power levels on his tunes will very and are not listed. We would recommend shooting us a call and we can discuss what your power gains should be with each tune.

I'm currently running a bully dog triple gt tuner on my duramax, and it's getting taken off soon along with the egr and fingerstick to make way for some efi live tuning, my question is can I wire the 5 way switch and still use my bull dog for the gauges??

You may do this yes. You would just need to make sure the bully dog is returned to stock without any power levels added.
