If you've upgraded to one of BD's X-Flow intake manifolds and Open Grid Intake Plenums, you might be missing the factory grid heater on those cold winter start ups. In order to regain a heating element and not lose out on the added increase in airflow you've gained, BD has this simple solution. All of the newer generation manifolds are drilled to accept this heating element that will make cold start ups a breeze.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You must have one of the newer generation manifolds that include a pre-tapped bung without requiring fabrication.

I'm needing to add a heater to the intake on a John Deere 3 Cylinder 152 CI Diesel that is in a 1974 John Deere 830A. What are the physical dimensions, the thread size, and the Current Draw of the heater??
Here is some information that should help. We do not have an exact number on the draw, however it draws 1/4 the amount the normal grid heater does on a 6.7 Ram with a Cummins in it. That being said you should be able to use a 10 gauge wire to power it. Heater wattage is approximately 200W, giving an amperage of approximately 17A. A 20A circuit should suffice. Thread size is M22x1.5 and roughly 4"" in length. Hopefully that helps.
Will this heater also fit the AFE EGR compliant intake manifold for the 13-17 rams? What other additional wiring is needed to make this product work as if it were stock??
This would not be compatible in those applications no.
I want to keep my emissions intact, which manifold will this fit in??
This will work only with the Off-road use only Bd intake horn kits.
What controls the heater, can the existing wiring be used? Is this thing always on???
The heater is controlled by the ECM through a relay. It only turns on when the truck is colder then about 45 degrees F. Connects to stock grid heater wire.
Will this screw into a banks monster intake with one of their existing machined holes?
No it will not fit in any of the holes on a Banks manifold without mods.
Will this item fit in the AFE Blade runner intake manifold and if so. Will i need an aditional wire harness to plug into the heater??
No it will not fit the AFE Manifold. Only BD manifolds because they are drilled and tapped for it.
If you do the modifications on a pusher intake manifold will this product work if I drilled and tapped it to the specific size??
I'm sure if the intake had a bung welded into it, you could make it compatible.
Will this work just as well as the stock grid heater??
For those super cold days no. The stock grid heater had a ton of surface area for the air to go over, the BD one just doesn't have as much surface area.
