If the FCA is not working properly, the ECM cannot communicate to the pump how much fuel it should be delivering. In most cases, people first know there is an issue when they have a hard start or no start issue because the FCA will not allow the pump to properly build pressure to start. However, by the time this occurs, the truck has probably been delivering less than the truly desired amount of fueling for a while already as the FCA is a simple spring design that many times takes a rather slow death, and not an immediate failure.
If you're experiencing hard start or no start issues, one easy way to confirm whether or not the FCA is causing the issue is to simply unplug it, thus eliminating any metering. Presuming the truck starts, immediately turn it off as you will have full pressure running to the fuel rail, but at least you have fairly high certainty that the FCA was causing the issue.

Looking for the three bolts used when replacing the Fuel control actuator on a 2004, Dodge 5.9 diesel?
I don't have those replacement torx head cap screws. Doing a quick search I came up with a part number of 4932790.
Hey how fast can I get this if I'm willing to pay extra and have it shipped to noonan North Dakota 213 main st 58765??????!? ASAP please?
It is a day lead then you can next day air the part.
Anyone know where you can find replacement o-rings? Or what size you'd need??
We don't have any orings separately unfortunately. Can't find the sizes either, might have to take the orings to a hydraulic shop and have them match them. Or get a new FCA and match the orings, always good to have a spare.
I have a 2003 ram 3500 with 5.9 Cummins. 218,000miles 6 speed stick. It finally showed a code referring to the FCA after getting flat bed home due to no start and got left sitting for 10 days. Trying to isolate possible injector bleed by isolating each one. started every time as each one isolated. So Dodge says FCA is p/n 05183245AA. What is the difference besides price of the 245AA or the 0666 P/N unit ? I think it is finally narrowing down to the FCA, however it has been starting and running for the last 2 weeks again. THank you for your comments and help. Ken in Norco Ca.?
They are both OEM replacements. Bosch is the OEM manufacturer of that injection pump and CP3. They are both going to function the same.
