From headlights and fog lights to light bars, rock lights, and auxiliary work lighting, these upgrades provide improved light output, modern efficiency, and rugged reliability. No matter your setup or application, we have the lighting solutions to fit your 6.5L Detroit-powered GM truck perfectly.

Lighting Technologies Explained

Halogen Lighting:
A halogen bulb is a traditional incandescent design that uses a tungsten filament surrounded by halogen gas. This reaction redeposits evaporated tungsten back onto the filament, extending bulb life and maintaining brightness. Halogen lights remain a cost-effective option, but they’re less efficient than modern systems — converting much of their energy into heat rather than light.

LED (Light Emitting Diode):
LED lighting has quickly become the industry standard, replacing halogen and incandescent bulbs in most modern applications. A single LED produces light output comparable to a halogen bulb, but multiple diodes can fit within the same space, delivering far greater brightness. LEDs are extremely efficient, converting nearly all energy into light rather than heat, and they last significantly longer. Plus, since LEDs don’t rely on fragile filaments, they withstand vibration and off-road abuse far better — perfect for work trucks and trail rigs alike.

HID (High Intensity Discharge):
HID lighting offers the highest light output of the three types, using a tungsten electrode encased in a xenon-filled tube rather than a filament. When ignited, the gas mixture produces an intense, bright light ideal for long-range visibility. While HIDs provide exceptional brightness, they’re more fragile compared to LEDs and require additional components such as ballasts for proper operation.

Why Upgrade Your 6.5L Detroit Lighting System?

  • Improve Visibility: See farther and clearer on- or off-road.

  • Enhance Safety: Increase reaction time and nighttime confidence.

  • Modernize Appearance: Give your truck a sharp, updated look.

  • Boost Efficiency: LED and HID options use less power and last longer.

  • Handle Any Condition: Weather-sealed housings resist dust, water, and vibration.
