Suspension - Steering | 2020-2024 Ford 6.7 Powerstroke

The release of the 2020 model year SuperDuty saw only very minor changes to the steering and suspension compared to the previous models, which is a good thing, as they were inherently built relatively well, at least in terms of your "average" heavy duty suspension. The only real major hiccup where Ford went wrong was to decrease the overall ride height by about one inch front and rear. Okay, so one inch isn't necessarily a crisis, what also happened at this same time is they abandoned use of the yellow bump stops that Ford has used for years in favor of more of a Dodge style bump stop. This revision, coupled with the lower ride height, equates to only about one inch of up travel on the front end before you bottom out on the bump stop. Now, we understand that most people aren't offroading their trucks, but with that limited amount of up travel, you're going to be smacking the bump stop every time you merely pull into a parking lot!

Now, how do you go about improving upon the factory suspension and steering of these trucks? Well, that's a very open ended question as it completely depends on what you use your truck for. First things first, though, another short coming that anyone can benefit from is in relation to the steering. Starting with the 2017 model years, many have encountered a very loose feeling steering wheel, and even Death Wobble (uncontrollable rocking of the steering wheel back and forth) on occasion. The reason? These trucks suffer from completely inadequate caster. Basically, if you look at your wheels from the side, the axle is essentially pointed too far "up," so the tires don't have enough resistance to the road when turning. This, along with the cheesy steering stabilizer are a recipe for disaster. We have numerous fixes for this, to include heavy duty single and dual stabilizers and caster shims to add additional caster.
