The majority of the steering and suspension have received little change on the 2020 Chevy HD models from their preceding 2019, but with some finite adjustments. And interestingly enough, the same could be said for the 2017-2019 models in comparison to the 2011-2016's. Overall, GM has infinitely been fine tuning their perpetual use of an Independent Front Suspension (IFS) since the dawn of days. Bad thing? Not necessarily as GM has always been noted for a supple ride quality. But for those of us that would rather a more aggressive stance or prefer to use our trucks in an off-pavement environment, there is definitely a lot of room for improvement.

Under such circumstances and coupled with larger tires, some of what delivers GM's impeccable factory ride quality, also delivers GM's notorious front end faults. Pitman and idler arms get sloppy, tie rods twist and ultimately snap in half, and gear boxes fail. The good news is that the aftermarket has long noted these areas of concern and built bulletproof suspension and front end components to make these concerns a thing of the past. And to make it even better, that notorious ride quality is maintained and can even be improved!
