DIAMOND EYE EXHAUST
Diesel Power Products is extremely proud to be a leading Warehousing Distributor and Retail Outlet for Diamond Eye Performance diesel exhaust systems.
You'd be pretty hard pressed to find a better exhaust product for a better price in today's very competitive diesel truck exhaust market. Diamond Eye exhaust kits are made from either 16-gauge aluminized steel or high quality T-409 stainless steel. Most exhaust kits can be installed in about an hour with ordinary hand tools. To top it off, while other kits are made overseas, Diamond Eye builds their kits in-house in small-town Athena, Oregon.
Everybody knows the benefits of larger mandrel bent exhaust systems: lower EGTs, increased fuel economy, more horsepower and better sound. Whether you want Aluminized to save some money, Stainless Steel for better looks and longer life, or 4" or 5" kits, we have the diesel exhaust system to fit your needs. We encourage you to browse through our site to see our full selection of Diamond Eye. While you’re at it, consider adding a BD exhaust brake along with your new Powerstroke, Duramax or Cummins exhaust. Order online or just give us a call. We'll be happy to help.
ALUMINIZED STEEL VS. T409 STAINLESS STEEL
Most of Diamond Eye's exhaust kits and components are available in your choice of aluminized or T409 stainless steel. So, what's the difference? First, aluminized steel is not aluminum, they're completely different materials. Aluminized steel is the most widely used metal in exhaust systems due to their affordability, durability, ease of manufacturing, and overall life expectancy. The physical appearance of aluminized steel is very similar to galvanized steel, an unpolished "metal" color. In contrast, T409 stainless steel is not the typical stainless steel many think of that features a mirror polish. That kind of stainless is called T304 and is considered the highest quality of stainless, but is also more difficult to work with. Now, which one is better? Well, that depends! As previously stated, aluminized is the most popular option probably due to its cost. However, depending on where you live, aluminized may be the best option anyways. In areas of high humidity especially, aluminized steel will rust and will traditionally rust completely through the metal. In constrast, it seems that T409 stainless will develop surface rust no matter what environment its in, but it will not rust through in the harshest of these environments.
4" OR 5" EXHAUST? WHICH ONE IS RIGHT?
That depends! Lets start with the most straight forward exhaust, a turbo back system. For the most part, there's no performance oriented reason that 5" exhaust is a better option compared to 4" until you're around 500 rear wheel horsepower. Up until that level, there's no power increase or any tangible exhaust gas temperature (EGT) reduction that warrants a 5" over a 4" system. That said, some prefer the louder, deeper tone that a 5" system produces over a 4". Now, once you pass 500 RWHP, we would recommend a 5" system to keep those exhaust temperatures down as much as possible. On the flip side, when comparing exhaust with a catalyst in line, such as a catalytic converter or a diesel particular filter (DPF), its arguable to go directly to a 5" system even if you're under 500 horsepower in order to free up as much exhaust restriction as possible.
