Description
Like many 6.0L owners, you need to replace your stock turbo. This complete drop-in replacement from Garrett delivers major gains in both reliability, as well as performance for a completely stock or modified engine. There's a reason why this is the most popular turbo upgrade for 6.0's.....it works. Featuring the Garrett patented Advanced Variable Nozzle Turbine (AVNTTM) design for increased compressor flow and boost response utilizing nine movable vanes, this drop-in turbo will significantly increase turbine efficiency and improve engine performance from idle launch through peak torque. The patented integral electro-hydraulic actuation and proportional solenoid for infinitely variable control with larger compressor wheel increases maximum power range while keeping turbo speeds down for the same power output. Supports up to an additional 175 HP over stock with no sacrifice in drivability. Suitable as a performance upgrade or replacement of original equipment with a perfect fit each and every time.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Please choose correct model year designation from the options. Some early 2004 models will utilize the 2003 model turbo. Check your build date. If prior to 9/22/03, you will need the 2003 model turbo, if after, you will require the 2004-2007 model turbo.
About Garrett
Garrett Turbochargers are OEM equipment on many cars and trucks. The also have an aftermarket diesel performance turbo line marketed as POWERMAX Performance Diesel. At Diesel Power Products we carry a variety of Garrett stock turbo parts as well as a few of their more popular performance models. The GTP38R ball bearing turbo that Garrett produces specifically for the 99-03 7.3L Ford Powerstrokes is by far the most popular turbo we sell. It features a 4" intake along with a custom silicone adapter hose, a ported shroud intake housing which helps control surging, a 1.0 A/R exhaust housing to help keep EGT's down, a large 88mm compressor wheel to manage all that airflow and, of course, a ball bearing cartridge. The ball bearing aspect is what really sets it apart. No journal bearing turbo can touch it when it comes to spool-up or reliability. The GTP38R functions best in Powerstrokes making up to around 475HP. You can stretch it a little further by substituting a 1.15 A/R exhaust housing for the 1.0. The 1.15 is non-wastegated and requires a machined adapter, which we also carry. You can even order the turbo in this configuration if you prefer.
