As power is increased in any diesel engine by means of performance programmers, injectors, and so forth, additional demand is applied to the turbocharger(s) to increase the amount of airfow being supplied to the engine. Depending on the model year of the truck, some additional airflow can be applied electronically via the tuning, but physical restrictions still exist, no matter the make or model year.
