Description
Amplify your driving experience with a Fleece Performance Holset 63mm Cheetah Turbocharger. Featuring a Fleece Performance exclusive 63mm billet compressor wheel and a high flow 65mm turbine wheel, this turbo is capable of supporting 650 RWHP, without sacrificing any drivability.
The factory turbo 2nd gen Ram trucks were predominantly a Holset HX35 featuring a 12cm housing, but for those with the popular 2000-2002 model years with an automatic transmission, you have an HY35 with a small 9cm housing. The small housing is great for spooling up on a truck without any performance upgrades, but that small housing equates to a huge bottleneck in performance and delivers high EGTs with a fueling box or larger than stock injectors.
The Cheetah series does not require an expensive kit, just bolt it on and go. Designed as a stock appearing, drop-in replacement turbo capable of much more! TIMELINE OF FLEECE PERFORMANCE ENGINEERING:- 2008: Fleece Performance Engineering was established in North Salem, IN by Brayden and Chase Fleece. Both had a passion for continuously innovating and improving upon products already on the market. Brayden's 2004.5 LLY Duramax became the test bed to develop the TurboBrake and Duramax Cheetah, while Chase's 2002 Cummins was one of the first Cummins pickups to integrate an Allison Transmission.
- 2012: Fleece Performance upgrades both facility and location by relocating to Nitro Alley in Brownsburg, IN situated among some of the top racing leaders in the world.
- 2014: Fleece Performance acquires the area's premier engine machine shop, Freedom Racing Engines. The acquisition enables Fleece Performance to expand the engine development program and product offerings. Today, Fleece Performance and Freedom Racing Engines build some of the most competitive engines in the industry.
- 2018: Fleece Performance breaks ground on a new 75,000 sq. ft. facililty in Pittsboro, IN.
- 2019: Fleece Performance and Freedom Racing Engines relocates to its new facility in Pittsboro, IN. The all new headquarters provides additional space for product development, production and work areas, assembly and testing, a larger warehouse, as well as four engine dynamometers, and two-story office space.
- 2020: Fleece Performance receives ISO9001:2015 Certification.

It works ok but the

With my setup I did
"With my setup I did not have the turbo lag everyone was expecting. In fact the boot came in about 400 rpm sooner and I had almost no smoke under load as I did before. Truck ran cooler and I got better overall performance and increased fuel efficiency."

"The Fleece turbo install kit did not include the exhaust casting which is included in other company kits. In reusing the OEM one after 24 winters of salt attacking it is weak and should of been replaced. Other than that it is preforming very well with a nice increase in power. My son likes it."

Q&A
- Stupid question but would this be worth putting on my 02 6-speed manual 24v with an industrial injection vp44 and fass fuel with an edge juice with attitude ! Trucks mostly used for towing
- Without some injector upgrades and your set up that turbo would be a bit lagging for what you are looking for. We would recommend the K27 from Industrial Injection or something around the 60mm size.
- Would this work with with 90 ho injectors on a 12v
- Absolutely, that would compliment those injectors quite nicely.
- the stock turbo had a line from the turbo to the AFC this one does not, do i need to split the line and run a 3 way fitting for the AFC connection? 1997 12 valve
- Hello Kyle. That line is a boost reference line for your wastegate. Since the Cheetah does not need that line you can plug the port on the back of the AFC housing.
- Dumb question. Will this fit on a 2nd gen swapped 03?
- We have not directly checked to see that this fits directly. -Mark
- What size injectors would be good for this turbo to tow with? A little smoke but not to much
- You would want to consider running a Dynomite Stage 1 or Stage 2 injector. That would help with the small amount of lag on that turbo with stock injectors but not over fuel it either. -Mark
