A quick spooling turbo with unsurpassed reliability that will match up perfectly to even a stock powered truck for a significantly broader power band and decreased temperatures. Matching up a turbo to existing or future modifications to a truck can be tricky. Fueling, transmission, tire size, gear ratio, altitude, use of truck, and other variables all must come into the equation to determine what turbo will work best for you. And for those that haven't committed to over 500 rear wheel horsepower, finding a performance turbo can be very tricky because the majority of turbo manufacturers all start at a 62mm compressor, which is simply too large of a turbo for trucks producing under 500 RWHP, especially when towing. Fortunately, ATS has the perfect turbo, even for stock powered trucks, with their Aurora 3000 turbo system for the 03-07 5.9L Cummins! The Aurora 3000 is a quick spooling turbo charger that is great for all around performance on the Commons Rail 5.9L Cummins. The 58mm inducer on the turbo is a very nimble and highly responsive unit. Safe for stock engines and stock components, towing and daily driving become much easier due to the turbo doing more work, instead of relying on the engine with a restrictive factory turbo. The increased air volume will utilize all fuel injected into the cylinder, creating a more complete and efficient combustion event. This will result in lower EGTs (Exhaust Gas Temperatures), better throttle response, and a more efficient/useable torque curve. RECOMMENDED ADD-ON PARTS - With the installation of an upgraded turbo, such as this Aurora 3000, we highly recommend also upgrading the exhaust manifold. Besides the simple fact that there is no better time to do so because the turbo will be off, there are many performance advantages, as well. The higher flowing exhaust manifold will assist the turbo to light sooner and provide more boost/air flow throughout the entire RPM range due to a reduction in the factory bottlenecked manifold. And quite simply, the line of ATS turbos are originally designed and tested with one of their Pulse Flow manifolds installed, so you will receive the maximum gain by installing as a package. Also, the multi-piece design provides an area for expansion/contraction to occur, which will nearly eliminate the possibility of a cracked manifold, which leads to a serious performance disadvantage. Finally, this manifold is built with a pre-threaded port making the installation of a pyrometer thermocouple a breeze.

ATS DIESEL PERFORMANCE

ATS Diesel Performance, based out of Arvada, Colorado, is a diesel performance manufacturing company that designs, engineers, and manufactures upgraded transmission components, valve bodies, patented heavy-duty torque converters, exhaust and intake manifolds, electronics, turbochargers, dual CP3 injection pumps, and more for Cummins, Powerstroke, and Duramax powered diesel trucks. ATS DIESEL TRANSMISSIONS

Clint Cannon and Ranee Elder founded Automotive Transmission Specialists in 1993. At that time, the company specialized in transmission repair for all types of vehicles. In 1997, the company "Performance Torque Converters" was founded, and they started doing torque converter rebuilds in-house. Bringing the capability of building torque converters in-house gave them more flexibility to service their racing customers. As the popularity of diesel trucks grew and more people became aware of the power upgrades available for their diesels, problems with diesel transmissions emerged.

Clint started research and development into a more robust torque converter to address the transmission issues. It was discovered that a clutch pack design was the answer to providing a robust torque converter. The development of the TripleLok Torque Converter and the company's focus on Diesel Performance products resulted in a rename of the company to ATS Diesel Performance.

By having their foot in the door before most, it allowed ATS Diesels transmission upgrades to grow with the demands of diesel trucks, putting them at the forefront of reliability. Fortunately for us, Clint didn't stop with transmissions and began to explore and refine upgraded turbochargers, intake and exhaust manifolds, and anything else to generate additional power with the ever-present mindset of maintaining powertrain reliability.

Good recommendation from DPP

"The turbo is fine but the install instructions were lacking since a 3rd gen cummins could have a slightly different turbo set up between the years. My 03 stock turbo oil drain line will not butt up correctly to the drain fitting from the block once attached to the turbo. I had to buy a flexible one to make it work. Also during the install, I found the exhaust elbow will not mate up to the rear of the Aurora 3000 without some pursuation. There was a decent gap that did not allow you to soft mount both brackets on the exhaust elbow to then have them pull everything together. To make it work, I attatched the elbow to the down pipe first, then forced the elbow to the rear of the turbo by pulling on the exhaust. When I read direct replacement, I did not expect fitment issues in a stock truck. I am happy with the turbo but I am disappointed in the fitment issues and directions. The ATS pulse flow exhaust manifold had similar issues with lack of instructions on a coolant line that was in the way. Annoying but not the end of the world."

Great low end

"Definitely an improvement in low end torque. I haven’t had a chance of putting many miles on it, but going around intersections that I had to downshift to 3rd, I’m comfortably making in 4th. I had a question about a sensor mount on the turbo that didn’t make sense for my year and got a quick answer with a phone call. Great customer service!"

"Perfect drop in turbo! I am in love with this turbo and header combo. Turbo is fast spooling compared to my stock it has an awesome sound looks bad ass. Easy install. Hardest part was removing bolts to exhaust manifold with a little bit penetration oil and time came right out."

Made for the pullin, sounds amazing.

"Easy install, amazing sound, and added some scoot ta boot! No giant snap your head back power but it helps get that trailer rolling when loaded down. Can’t demand much more without head studs and more fuel. So if keeping it on the stock end of the upgrade spectrum then this thing is definitely the best upgrade you can make. DPP is hands down the only place to buy the things that make men happy. Now whistle Dixie on through the night!"

Q&A

I bought a aftermarket AFE waste gate. Does this unit not use one? Or is it optional? I just got the turbo and manifold just have yet to install
Correct the ATS 3000 turbo does away with an external wastegate. ATS appropriately sized this turbo for a stock truck with stock injectors and a mild tune. The factory turbo is rather small for quick spool up, but it can spin too fast because it is so small. That is why it has a wastegate to slow it down. -Sands
I have an '03 dodge w/ the 6 speed manual, 305hp/ 555tq. new stock injectors big air filter, 4"" ex... I pull a big 5th wheel with normal load it weighs 23k plus. Stock turbo blew up replaced it with another brand, I've had a lot of issues w/ this particular company, can you recommend or let me know which one of your turbos might work for this app. I also use a Jacobs exhaust brake. What are the hp and torque increase specs for a stock 05?
For a stock truck you will not notice much of a hp increase maybe 10-15hp and 25-30ftlbs. Reason being, you have not added any tuning to utilize the extra air or any more fuel. You still only have a certain amount of fuel being delivered to the engine so it will only make around stock hp levels. SA
