Description
Bring your L5P Duramax powered Chevrolet or GMC to new heights (literally) with this monster 5" High Clearance System from the suspension gurus at BDS. At the heart of this 5" system, BDS utilizes a pair of 1/4" thick laser cut high clearance cross members to maximize clearance and provide a solid mounting point for the OE lower control arms. Combined with the cross member is the heavy-duty front skid plate creating a rigid subframe while adding protection for vital steering and driveline components. In place of the factory steering knuckles are a pair of specially designed ductile iron replacement knuckles that maintain proper steering geometry for ESC system compatibility. The front differential is repositioned with BDS's multipoint relocation bracket system to secure the front differential keeping CV axle angles at a minimum. To help maximize clearance, a pair of torsion bar relocation brackets are supplied to mount to the lower control arms to retain the factory high clearance frame mounted cross member. A pair of BDS-branded sway bar drop brackets are used to correct the operating angle of the factory sway bar along with extended-length braided stainless steel brake lines. Rounding out the front of this kit are FOX 2.0 performance series IFP shocks or BDS NX2 shocks. In the rear of this 5" lift system, 4.5" lift blocks and longer u-bolts are used to lift and level the stance. Also included, BDS supplies brake line and ABS line relocation brackets allowing the use of factory brake lines. Lastly, a matching set of either FOX 2.0 performance series IFP shocks or BDS NX2 series shocks is supplied to compliment the front setup. All kits come finished in a durable textured black powder coat and are sent with hardware packs to complete the installation along with step-by-step instructions. IMPORTANT KIT NOTES:
  • Requires frame bracket modification.
  • Torsion Bar Tool required to load/unload torsion bars, The GM specified tool is #CH48809.
  • Models with two-piece rear driveshafts will require a carrier bearing drop kit.
  • Factory 17-18" wheels cannot be reinstalled due to tie rod end interference, stock 20" wheels can be reinstalled with up to a 35x12.50 tire.
  • In some cases vehicles used in 4WD on the highway regularly could potentially experience a minor front driveline vibration. If this occurs we recommend replacing the front driveshaft with a dual Cardan style driveshaft.
  • Compatible with gas or diesel models.
  • Compatible with standard models as well as AT4 models.
  • Some minor trim will be required with certain wheel/tire combination. This is normal with most aftermarket tire/wheel fitment on Chevy/GM trucks. Trimming will normally included the bottom edge of the inner fender shrouds and/or lower corner of front bumper valance. As a rule of thumb, deeper backspacing and shorter/narrower tires will reduce/eliminate trimming required. Further trimming tips are included at the end of this instruction sheet.
