When most people think about a "leveling kit," they think about a spacer that goes between the front coils and coil buckets to effectively raise the front of the truck several inches. While this type of product does "level" the truck for fitment of larger tires, it does absolutely nothing to improve upon the handling and overall suspension performance of the vehicle. In fact, this type of system will typically degrade these factors, as the existing shocks are over extended, the caster is not accounted for, and the axle is offset because the factory track bar is still in place. If you want to level your truck the right way, then this is the system for you!
CARLI SPEC 2.0" REMOTE RESERVOIR SHOCKS
The Backcountry 2.0 Suspension System from Carli is about leveling your truck the RIGHT way. It's designed for people seeking light to medium off-roading while still maintaining good on-road driving. Utilizing Carli SPEC 2.0″ diameter shocks tuned for slow to mid speed off road use as well as all-around comfort and ride quality while driving in town, on the highway, towing, or hauling. Carli SPEC 2.0 boasts an aluminum body, hardened steel shaft, and full rebuild-ability. The shocks contain premium 5WT oil to balance lubricity, consistent damping and the widest available range in temperature variation. Your truck will sit 2.5” higher in the front and have more wheel travel thanks to the taller, lighter rate coil springs. To accommodate the additional travel, the kit contains improved brake lines, an adjustable track bar, and caster adjusters to improve on the stock handling.
ADJUSTABLE TRACK BAR
The truck will sit 2.5” higher in the front and have more wheel travel thanks to the lighter rate Carli Coil Springs. The Adjustable Track Bar centers the front axle and Stainless Brake Lines firm up braking and ensure there is enough line for the newfound travel. To round off the front end, Carli includes Caster Shims to tighten the steering and a fabricated, High-Clearance Bump Stop Drop to keep the springs clear from the contacting the factory bump stop.
SWAY BAR OPTIONS
The front Sway Bar Geometry will need to be addressed with your choice of a Sway Bar Drop Bracket (more economical, maintains the factory Sway Bar End Links) or our Extended Sway Bar links – a FAR more robust option. The replacement End Links are the only option compatible with a plow bracket.
SWAY BAR DROP BRACKETS SPECIFICATIONS:- Corrects sway bar geometry
EXTENDED SWAY BAR LINKS SPECIFICATIONS:
- Extended length to accommodate leveled trucks
- 17-4 stainless steel, greasable and fully rebuildable
- Excellent articulation
- Only works on Carli leveling kits
- Rebuild parts
TORSION SWAY BAR WITH LINKS SPECIFICATIONS:
- Direct fitment to Carli leveling lifts
- Replaces immobile factory sway bar with custom torsion bar
- Huge ride quality improvement
- Includes drop brackets and sway bar links
- Rebuild parts
REAR LEAF SPRING OPTIONS
The rear can be outfitted with a replacement Full Progressive Spring Pack (reduces capacity to a “light” ¾-ton) or factory leaf-pack modifying Progressive Add-a-Pack (eliminates the factory block and maintains payload capacity; pairs with a rear bump stop drop). This is where the F250 and F350 are a bit different. Since 2008, the main spring packs on these two trucks is different; the F250 has a lighter rate spring pack than its 350 counterpart. The F250 Add-a-Pack equipped systems are a nice improvement over stock; the F350 with the Add-a-Pack is still very stiff in the rear as the main pack doesn’t move much unless loaded. Carli recommends the Full Replacement Leaf Spring packs for both trucks but especially the F350 given the super-stiff factory springs. If capacity is a concern, an aftermarket airbag system should be installed to complement the Full Progressive Leaf Springs to restore the F350 capacity. Carli recommends a system that will allow the airbags to disconnect from the lower mount during suspension cycling to ensure you’re able to take advantage of all your rear suspension travel. The Full Progressive Leaf Spring Pack will shift the axle slightly forward in the wheel well to ensure maximum tire clearance for a 37” M/T at full compression.
ADD-A-PACK SPECIFICATIONS:
- Bilt in the USA by Deaver Leaf Spring
- Smooth, progressive design
- Supplied with bump stop drops, u-bolts and hardware
- Pairs to Carli leveling lifts, provides 1/2"-1" high rear stance
- Eliminates the factory block
- Load capacity is maintained, ride quality is improved
- Super-Duties equipped with a factory 3-5/8" block will require the 2" factory block (Part numbers 7C3Z-5598-L, and 7C3Z-5598-K) to achieve a level stance. Fits 3.5″ axle tube.
FULL PROGRESSIVE LEAF SPRING KIT SPECIFICATIONS:
- Block eliminating
- Includes new u-bolts and rear bump stop drops
- Provides a 1/2" rear high stance to Carli leveling suspension systems
- 37" tire fitment
- 3.5-4.0" axle tube
HEAVY DUTY FULL PROGRESSIVE LEAF SPRING KIT SPECIFICATIONS:
- Block eliminating
- Designed for those with constant 1,000lbs in the bed
- Includes new u-bolts and rear bump stop drops
- Provides a 1" rear hight stance on matching 2.5" leveling suspension systems
- 37" tire fitment
- 3.5-4.0" axle tube
LEAF SPRING SHACKLES SPECIFICATIONS:
Much of the jarring ride of the Super Duty rear can be attributed to the factory vulcanized bushings in the leaf spring pack and shackle. The factory shackle is very strong BUT the design is not conducive to a smooth ride. The Carli shackle is constructed of 1/4″ American cold-rolled steel. The mid-length gusset ensures no deflection while the serviceable bushings offer a far superior ride to the bind of the factory bushings.
- Greasable and rebuildable
- Far better ride than factory shackle
- 1/4" steel construction
- Fits factory and Carli springs
WHEEL AND TIRE FITMENT
Factory Wheels SHOULD NOT be run with oversized tires. They’re known to rub the radius arm, sway bar and most concerning – Brake Lines. Factory tires and factory wheels will work without issue but Carli DOES NOT recommend running oversized tires on factory wheels. On our 2.5” Ford Systems, Carli recommends 17”-18” wheels, no more than 9” wide with 5.5” of backspacing with Carli Fabricated Radius Arms or 5” Backspace with factory arms; 5” will require a bit more trimming. Tires, 37×12.5” will fit with some trimming; 35” will likely fit without trimming. The more rubber, the better the small bump compliance will be at proper inflation pressures. The ride will firm up as you go larger in wheel diameter.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
-
Wheels: Carli recommends a 17"-18" wheel, no more than 9" wide with 5" - 5.5" of backspacing
-
Tires: 35", E-rated tire is recommended. Tire pressure 45psi front, 40psi rear
-
Configuration: Carli leveling systems are designed and tested on vehicles with 17"-18" wheels with 35", E-rated tires. Running stock wheels and tires or a larger wheel diameter will result in a stiffer ride.
NO LEAF SPRING OPTION NOTES:- Diesel Power Products and Carli strongly
suggest the use of either options available. These options are designed
to work flawlessly with the rest of your kit and, are the best way to
go. However, we understand you may already have the necessary provisions
and/or products to use with this kit so we give you the option to not
include any leaf spring provisions.
