Description
The Carli Backcountry system can best be described as being built for truck owners who "use their truck as a truck." So, what does this mean? The Backcountry is ideal for those who daily drive, tow, plus like to hit some trails on the weekends, but aren't looking to see daylight under the tires out in the dunes. The benefit of the Backcountry over the Commuter series is the remote reservoir that not only LOOKS cool but also allows the shock to maintain its temperature, meaning you won't experience shock fade when on rough surfaces for any extended period, as a traditional IFP shock will tend to do. The Backcountry 2.0 system is designed for people seeking the best ride on and off-road on a budget; perfect for those who want to have a little dirt-road fun in their 8,500lb truck without losing the on-road ride quality or usability for which the truck was designed. You're no longer limited to the highway while gravel roads become uninteresting as you can drive them at speed with one hand on the wheel. The remote reservoir Carli SPEC 2.0 boasts 6063 Aluminum construction, an anodized body for corrosion resistance, a 5/8″ hardened steel chrome plated shaft, full serviceability & rebuildability, and is built with 1-piece bushings in the 6061 billet rod-ends. These shocks are spec’d with a premium 5WT oil to balance lubricity, consistent damping, and the widest available range in temperature variation. SWAY BAR OPTIONS When pairing added down-travel with the taller ride height, the position of the factory, front sway bar will need to be altered as well. For this, you have two options; Billet Sway Bar Drop Brackets or the replacement Torsion Sway Bar. The Billet Drop Blocks shift the sway bar down and forward to ensure the factory end links cycle properly throughout the entire extended travel range. Carli's optional Torsion Sway Bar removes the entire factory sway bar assembly replacing it with a torsion bar supported by fabricated drop brackets and delrin bushings. Fabricated sway bar arms and dual 5/8" FK heim end links round off the package. This is the single best bang for the buck, ride-quality upgrade offered by Carli Suspension. SWAY BAR DROP BRACKET SPECIFICATIONS: In-house machined billet aluminum Hard-anodized for corrosion resistance Correct factory sway bar geometry on the 3" lift TORSION SWAY BAR SPECIFICATIONS: Easily the best bang for the buck upgrade for ride quality Allows front suspension to move freely without giving up control Requires removal of electronic sway bar on Power Wagons Compatible with 0-4" front lift Torsion Bar may be black or silver zinc; depends on supply-chain availability. NOT requestable. REAR LEAF SPRING OPTIONS Your truck will sit 3"-3.5" higher in the front (cab configuration dependent) with 50% more suspension travel than the factory platform thanks to the taller, lighter rate coil springs. The rear is lifted 2-3" via either Carli's Progressive Rate Add-A-Pack & Billet Block or Carli's Full Replacement Progressive Leaf Springs. REAR LEAF SPRING ADD-A-PACK SPECIFICATIONS: Replaces lower overload spring More predictability and spring progression keeps tires planted 1" lift matches to our 3" front systems Includes U-bolts and Center Pins Will NOT fit 2013-2024 Ram 3500 with Factory Air-Assist FULL PROGRESSIVE LEAF SPRING KIT SPECIFICATIONS: 2" rear lift maintains slight rear-height stance with Carli 3" Systems Softens initial spring rate at ride height Minimizes axle wrap / wheel hop Reduces payload to light 3/4-ton capacity Capable of 15" of suspension travel with factory shackle Will NOT fit trucks that have factory air-assist When lifting the front end of a straight-axle truck, the front axle is pulled off-center unless the proper linkages are addressed. Three inches of front lift equates to an axle shifted toward the driver's side 3/4" and, in the radius arm equipped Rams, lightened caster and slight rearward axle shift. This system includes an Adjustable Track Bar to push the axle back toward the passenger side and provide a stronger link with less deflection for the lifted application. Also included are Radius Arm Drop Brackets to recenter your caster adjustment and shift the axle forward to its new center of travel. Everything is included to support the flawless operation of all components. You will receive bump stop drops to ensure the shocks are cycling in their designed travel range as well as a rear track bar drop bracket minimizing the rear end "wag" associated with opposing track bar suspension designs. ADDITIONAL OPTIONS LEAF SPRING SHACKLEThe 3500 has been described as having a "jarring" ride. Some of that can be attributed to the factory's vulcanized bushings in the leaf spring pack and shackle. It's very strong, but gives little in the terms of comfort. The Carli fabricated shackle is built from 1/4" cold-rolled American steel. The mid-length design of the gusset prevents deflection, while the serviceable bushings are much more comfortable and superior to the factory bushings. LOW MOUNT STEERING STABILIZERCertain tires, mainly in lifted off road applications have a terrible habit of pulling to one side. With the added Low Mount stablizer, you have complete control over how passive or agressive your front end can be. Ranging from 70-200 psi of counter pressure to the inherent pull of an aftermarket setup, pair this with the High Mount as well, and you'll have every bit of adjustment you need to make your truck ride safe, reliable and comfortable. HIGH MOUNT STEERING STABILIZERRecommended for those running 37" or greater. Pair with the lower stabilizer to counter pull experienced from those beefy offroad tires you're rolling on. Adjustable from 70-200 psi, there's plenty of room for ride quality improvements in your truck. FABRICATED RADIUS ARM OPTIONAs icing on the cake, these arms add Limit Strap Protection for your Front Shocks, 1/4" Boxed Steel Construction, Serviceable 17-4 Stainless Spherical Bearings and maintain the factory caster adjustment. WHEEL AND TIRE FITMENT This system will fit up to a 37" tire when utilizing wheels that are no more than 9" wide with 5.75-6" of backspacing. A 12.5" wide should fit with no rubbing on the factory radius arm and only minor trimming required, while a 13.5" will require more trimming and slightly more offset to fit properly. 35" tires will fit with VERY minimal if any trimming. Carli recommends running an 18" diameter wheel for optimal ride quality (more rubber = better small bump compliance) on a 35"-37" E-rated tire running 45psi front, 40psi rear when unloaded. CARLI TESTED After a great deal of test runs with various weights loaded in the bed of Carli test truck, it was quickly determined that the factory payload was nearly untouched, given all of the updates Carli had made to the rear of the truck. What would a Carli kit be if it weren't getting absolutely filthy out in the dirt or getting the shocks up to temperature? In true form, Carli made absolutely sure the truck could also perform offroad by making numerous trips to the deserts of Barstow, El Cajon and Phoenix to really confirm how the new packages worked. The conclusion? These trucks can boogie just like the previous years!

CARLI COMPONENTS

You know, its not always about a complete suspension. In fact, some of our best selling Carli products are things like a track bar, Carli ball joints, shocks, coil springs, and more. Maybe you've got a clunk in your front end that has been nailed down to being from a worn out track bar bushing and you did your research (mentioned above) and found out that the best track bar for your Ram or Ford is from Carli, so you buy that one. Or maybe you want a better ride, but only want to replace the coil springs for now. No problem. Sure, Carli is centered around their entire systems, but nearly all of their components can be used interchangeably on a stock height truck or one with an existing leveling or lift kit. We do our best to make note of any fitment requirements on each product page, but if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out and ask, we're happy to help.

Here at Diesel Power Products we only want to sell the best and lets face it, the stock Ram and Ford suspension needs help. Your stock suspension system is designed to be adequate and nothing more. Carli not only makes the ride of your truck better, it makes it safer. Whether you are towing a trailer on the interstate or doing a little off-road adventure, we will attest that you'll be more than satisfied by upgrading to Carli.
