Description
The factory electronically controlled fan clutch on the Common Rail Cummins is known to have its issues. If you're ready to convert yours over to a good, reliable mechanical fan clutch, its really not that difficult, you just need the right parts, including this specialty adapter and the right fan clutch, in this case, one from an "OBS" Ford, or a 1994-1997 model year Ford, and you're good to go!This adapter and the associated parts will deliver the reliable cooling solution you are looking for. Check the list below for the necessary parts combinations. In order to use your existing engine fan blade, you must have the 6-Bolt blade assembly (typically found on 03-08 trucks only). If you have the 4-Bolt blade assembly, you will need to purchase the fan blade, as well. This particular assembly includes the required adapter, as mentioned above (CLICK HERE for the adapter by itself), but because in most instances the bearing is in need of replacing and how problematic it can be to replace the bearing in the mounting plate, we offer this complete assembly with the bearing pre-installed and the adapter bolted in place. REQUIRED PARTS FOR 5.9L CUMMINS: This Cummins Fan Hub Adapter 1994-1997 Ford "OBS" Powerstroke Fan Clutch Your Stock 6-Bolt Fan Blade REQUIRED PARTS FOR 6.7L CUMMINS: This Cummins Fan Hub Adapter 1994-1997 Ford "OBS" Powerstroke Fan Clutch Your Stock 6-Bolt Fan Blade OR 5.9L Cummins Engine Fan  IMPORTANT NOTES: When returning your core, it is important to return ALL components that were removed during the replacement process, to include the original bracket adapter, bolt, and washer. If all components are not returned, you will be responsible for paying the core fee in its entirety. Removing the Electronic Fan Clutch from your Dodge Pickup WILL leave an error code in the computer. In our experience, this does not typically trigger the "Check Engine Light", but the soft code will always be present. At this time, we are not aware of any way to disable this code. On some rare occasions on the 6.7 Cummins we have had issues where the A/C will blow warmer due to air flow at idle.  CUMMINS CONVERSION (COMMON RAIL) CUSTOMERS - Using the stock Dodge Common Rail electronic engine fan in a Cummins conversion project can be a real hassle. Many conversion owners have found that keeping the engine cool with the Dodge electronic fan can be quite challenging. This adapter hub will allow the use of a standard mechanical fan clutch (Ford) and fan on your Common Rail Cummins engine. This eliminates messing around with electronic controls and provides a much more reliable "mechanical" solution to cooling your conversion engine. Driven Diesel recommends using the Ford "OBS" Fan Clutch and the Ford 6.0L Fan (23.25" Diameter). While it may be possible to fit the larger Dodge fan (26" Diameter) into some conversions, we CANNOT provide you with information about doing so. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to measure your clearances and order the fan that will best fit your application.

About Driven Diesel

Driven Diesel, the manufacturing side of the highly accredited Strictly Diesel, is widely known for producing quality, first to market, diesel performance and maintenance products, specializing in Ford Powerstrokes. Dennis Schroeder and Nate Brekken, co-owners of Strictly Diesel, came together in 2010 in order to merge two companies with a common goal. Previously, Dennis owned ITP Diesel that was notorious for producing regulated return fuel kits for Powerstrokes and other specialty performance products while Nate owned Strictly Diesel, which at the time focused on quality, local service and repair work. The two continually collaborated between one another so it was only natural to combine the two companies into what it is now. While many know the Regulated Return Kits, Fuel Filter Kits, Electric Fuel Pump Kits, etc. as Strictly Diesel products, technically they are derived from the manufacturing side of Strictly, known as Driven Diesel. Whichever name you have come to know their products as, you can be rest assured you will never find a "copy-cat" product with their name on it and they have put their own blood, sweat, and tears into every finite detail. These are not "one size fits all" products, but truly tailored for each individual application and designed to serve a purpose and make your truck more reliable than the day it rolled off the assembly line.
