Description
By far, proven time and again, the biggest weak point of the front end on the Chevrolet or GM 1500 is that of the tie rods. Bigger tires, more power, boosted launches, offroading, all of these will cause the factory tie rods to bend or break. And when they do, it leaves your truck pigeon towed, unable to get out of its own way. The best way to fix this or prevent it in the first place is to replace the stock, inferior tie rods with a set of these Forged Tie Rods from PPE. Featuring a 32% larger-diameter forged sleeve, 27% larger-diameter toe adjusting shaft, and 14% larger, stronger ball studs. The outer tie rod end features a spring-loaded ball-stud seat that maintains constant pressure and OEM steering knuckle taper. The inner tie rod end is adjustable through the end cap and contains a powdered metal ball seat as well as a rubber shim for clearance compensation. IMPORTANT NOTE - These tie rods may be too long for lifted trucks that have aftermarket knuckles. The body of the tie rod may need to be trimmed down 1/2 inch so that there is enough adjustment for installation.
