Originally founded in 1985, Pacific Performance Engineering (PPE) is leading the way in the progression of diesel performance. Their roots started them in the diesel performance industry installing other manufacturers kits and components, which led to the release of their original product, the Duramaximizer, in 2001 to improve upon the power and efficiency of the LB7 Duramax, and is still in use today. Today, they are known for manufacturing dual CP3 kits, their line of Xcelerator programmers for numerous applications, upgraded oil pans, and nearly anything you can think of to improve the power and extend the life of your Duramax, Cummins or Duramax.

We get a lot of calls and e-mails each day with various product, vehicle, and installation questions. Some are completely off the wall and can even catch us off guard at times, but many others are fairly routine, so we thought we'd post some of the most popular questions that can hopefully be a good resource for you.

Q: What is the difference in the California model vs Federal model downpipes on a 2001-2004 LB7 Duramax, and can you use a Federal on a CA truck if I change to a Federal turbo?
A: No, the Federal and CA have a slightly difference flange, in order to clear the EGR. Even if you install a Federal turbo and Federal Downpipe, you would still not have accommodations for the EGR.

Q: What is the difference in the L5P Duramax up-pipes and the older trucks?
A: The bolt pattern on the flanges are different, thus you cannot use the older model up-pipes on the newer L5P's, or vice versa.

Q: Regarding the PPE 5" Stainless Steel Exhaust Tip Upgrade for the 2011-2019 Duramax trucks, is the PPE tip air cooled like the factory tip?
A: No, the actual tip is double wall in order to prevent any discoloration associated with high exhaust temperatures, but it is not air-cooled as the factory tip is.

Q: Will the LB7 Duramax passenger side up-pipe fit on my 2004.5-2016 Duramax?
A: While the up-pipe bolt pattern and length is the same between the two models, the newer models require the EGR connection, which the 2001-2004 models did not have due to not having an EGR cooler, thus it would be missing the provisions for such necessary equipment, so no, it will not fit.

Q: What does the stainless steel heater hose connector replace?
A: PPE has developed this heater connection due to the factory plastic component being prone to cracking, causing a leak. PPE solves this by building a direct replacement from stainless steel.

Q: What are the differences with the coolant bypass tubes between the 2001-2005 and 2006-2007 Duramax trucks?
A: The difference between the two model year ranges is due to the sizing of the water pumps that go with each truck, and each having a different flange size, as well as the physical size of the pump causes the routing to be different when looking at the two available cooler bypass tubes.

If you've got a question about upgrading your vehicle with a PPE product, feel free to give us a call at 888-99-DIESEL and we would be happy to assist.
