In 2009, Dodge finally released an upgraded gearbox for the HD Ram line-up after YEARS of failed boxes. It was an impressive improvement over the previous boxes, but we've still seen many of them fail, especially on trucks running anything larger than 35" tires. Ram has now again improved these boxes by superseding the old boxes to what the 2013 2500's come with from the factory. The box itself it relatively similar to the factory box in the 2009-2012 trucks, but with a DRASTICALLY larger sector shaft (shaft coming out of the box going to your tie rod / drag link). This is where the majority of the failures have occurred due to the sector shaft wandering, resulting in excessive internal play.
Due to the larger sector shaft, you must also change out the pitman arm, unless you are using it as a replacement on a 2013 2500 (not 3500). We offer the replacement pitman arm from the drop down menu, but if you are currently running an aftermarket drop pitman arm, you will need to purchase a new drop pitman arm built specifically for the 2013 2500's. If you currently have a steering box brace installed, you will need to replace the bearing to one designed for the 2013 2500's to accommodate the larger shaft.
