Gain control of your transmission's gear selection like the 2006+ Duramax trucks with this factory looking kit from Fleece Performance!The Fleece Performance TapShifter allows you to shift your 2001-2005 Allison Transmission with the touch of a button just like the 2006 and newer trucks. Perfect for towing, drag racing, daily driving and everything in-between, the TapShifter installs in no time and provides factorylike operation, functionality and styling.
INSTALLATION:
The TapShifter installs using OEM high quality connectors for a completely plug and play installation in less than 30 minutes.
OPERATION:
TapShifter operation is very straight forward. To downshift depress the "-" button on the shifter. To upshift press the "+" button. The TapShifter will allow you to select a range with the shift lever and then tap up and down without worry of tapping to a higher range than selected. This feature is great for sled pullers who do not want to shift to 4th gear on the track!
IMPORTANT NOTE:01-02 models will require TCM Re-Flash to enable overdrive lock-out and proper function.

Brayden's 2004.5 LLY Duramax became the test bed to develop the TurboBrake and Duramax Cheetah, while Chase's 2002 Cummins was one of the first Cummins pickups to integrate an Allison Transmission.
- 2012: Fleece Performance upgrades both facility and location by relocating to Nitro Alley in Brownsburg, IN situated among some of the top racing leaders in the world.
- 2014: Fleece Performance acquires the area's premier engine machine shop, Freedom Racing Engines. The acquisition enables Fleece Performance to expand the engine development program and product offerings. Today, Fleece Performance and Freedom Racing Engines build some of the most competitive engines in the industry.
- 2018: Fleece Performance breaks ground on a new 75,000 sq. ft. facililty in Pittsboro, IN.
- 2019: Fleece Performance and Freedom Racing Engines relocates to its new facility in Pittsboro, IN. "'Purchased this in December 2014 for my 2003, 2500HD. This is by far one of the best upgrades I have ever done to my Chevy diesel. However, I spent an additional 1. 5 hours sanding the shift lever mating surface because it did not line up with the existing torx screw hole. If that had not been an issue, the installation would have been truly, plug-n-play. However once done, everything worked flawlessly as advertised. Prior to this, my only downshifting was done via the tow-haul button and I lived almost exclusively in the D mode. Now I can downshift or upshift as needed to meet any road condition. If you are considering upgrades to your Duramax, I highly recommend this Fleece Tap Shifter be at the top of your short list!"

Q&A
- Just installed my tap shift I ordered from you guys on my LLY duramax, works great for towing up hills where I need to shift down a gear to maintain speed. Should I also be able to shift up a gear at low speed with this? There are times where it would be nice to force my tranny to shift up to second gear sooner than it does. Thanks!
- The tap shifter will allow control over the highest gear, similar to how manual mode works on the newer transmissions. That being said it won't "force" a shift that is harmful to the transmission, so if the truck is going too slow for a specific gear it will ignore the command until its safe to shift.
- Will I still have the regular drive option or will it be manual shifting all the time?
- It will operate regularly until you use it to downshift. To go back to regular shifting you will click back up to Drive. -Sands
