While the 5R110 is a very stout transmission, there are some flaws. When a gear is commanded, a solenoid applies fluid to the appropriate clutch. Under normal conditions and stock horsepower levels, the factory solenoid is sufficient. If any performance upgrades have been made, you will quickly max out the capabilities of the factory solenoid. This causes clutch slippage, and over time will lead to transmission failure. The XDP 5R110 Modified Direct Clutch Solenoid provides more fluid, at a faster rate to keep up with your performance built truck. This not only extends the life of your transmission, it also provides you with crisp, firm shifts. The direct clutch is used in 5th gear and reverse. "Absolutely love it. Tyranny shifts way better, no more flare and did tyranny tune with minimal. Transmission locks up now 51 mph . Absolutely a great changer. Highly recommend doing it. Install was super easy. Go for it. . . you won't regret buying it"

Garbage, incorrect part dosent fit

"So, does is on a national back order for this part, and my truck is my livelihood and now after counting on this to come in waisting 100 dollars of transmission fluid and filters, I now have to sit and wait. I know this isn’t an OEM part, but if you look into the different style solenoids in this transmission, there are 3 different ones, I needed the one for the direct drive clutch which needs an “inversely proportional “ solenoid, and yet the gave me a directly proportional one which physically dosent even fit and now I’m screwed and out a lot of money after paying for 2 day shipping for a waist of my time. Never will I buy junk from here again"

Q&A

Could this part cause a p1744 fault? (Torque converter clutch solenoid circuit performance) im getting flashing tow/haul light. Torque converter will lock but will unlock and cause the code and the flashing dash light. I can clear the code and itll lock and unlock and do the same thing, over and over. Thanks.

will this work in a 08 with 5.4 liter 5r110. im having shift fading
This solenoid is only meant for the 5R110 behind the 6.0 and 6.4 Powerstroke trucks.
I have a transgo shift kit. Can I still install this solenoid?
You bet, and from reports we've gotten back, they work excellent together.
I believe this will solve the issue I'm having with my truck but my concern is will gear shifting be to harsh with this upgrade
This part will not change your shift feel at all.
Will this interfere with any tuning I might have? I’ve got 190-75’s and I’m looking into tunes. Also would this cause any problems towing?
That would not interfere with any tuning no. It would actually be better with tuning. And will work just fine with towing. -Sands
