PACBRAKE EXHAUST BRAKES

Pacbrake is a manufacturing company based out of Langley, British Columbia that began operations in 1961, specializing in exhaust and engine brakes for commercial truckers, loggers, and the military. Today, their expertise still lies on exhaust braking solutions, but it goes well beyond this and into numerous other vehicle upgrades such as air suspension, air compressors, complete air management solutions, and so much more.

PACBRAKE EXHAUST BRAKES

Diesel Power Products is proud to offer the complete line of Pacbrake PRXB Exhaust Brakes for Cummins, Duramax and Powerstroke diesels. At the time of their release, the PRXB line of brakes was unlike any other, and still maintains superiority over many alternatives to this day. So what does PRXB mean and how does it work? PRXB stands for "Pressure Release Exhaust Brake." Basically, all exhaust brakes have to release a certain amount of exhaust, otherwise it would cause excessive backpressure to the engine and cause damage. However, PRXB's are unique in that they have a variable release so that as RPM's slow down, so does the release of exhaust, equating to better retarding power at lower RPM's. If you tow with your diesel and don't have an exhaust brake, you're simply missing out on the peace of mind and safety that it delivers. Pacbrake's kits come complete, even torque converter lockup controllers when applicable, exhaust adapters for aftermarket oversized exhaust, and more.

PACBRAKE AIR BAGS & AIR COMPRESSORS

With a name like Pacbrake you would assume that they ONLY make diesel exhaust brakes. That couldn't be farther from the truth. Pacbrake has jumped into the light duty diesel truck market with an innovative product line including AMP series air bags, air suspension, Dodge short shift kits, on board air kits and accessories and their MaxFlow Elbow for 1994-2002 Ram trucks which is based on the same elbow used in the PRXB MaxFlow Exhaust Brake kit. Pacbrake manufactures exhaust brakes for GM Duramax, Ford Powerstroke and Cummins Diesels. Not sure which Pacbrake part is right for you? Give us a call or send us an email, we'll be glad to help!

We get a lot of calls and e-mails each day with various product, vehicle, and installation questions. Some are completely off the wall and can even catch us off guard at times, but many others are fairly routine, so we thought we'd post some of the most popular questions regarding Pacbrake products that can hopefully be a good resource for you.

Q: Where is Pacbrake located?
A: Langley, British Columbia Canada

Q: What is the difference between an engine brake and an exhaust brake? Are they both a Jake brake?
A: An engine brake and an exhaust brake are both aimed at achieving the same thing, just in different ways. An engine brake closes off the exhaust valves to push exhaust pressure back into the cylinders to slow the engine and vehicle down. Conversely, an exhaust brake features a butterfly valve in-stream in the exhaust, post turbo, that opens and closes to apply back pressure. Pickup trucks historically will have exhaust brakes whereas larger Class 6, 7, or 8 can have either. Pacbrake developed a legitimate engine brake for 6.7L Cummins, called the Load Leash, that worked with the stock exhaust brake. Unfortunately, lower than expected sales forced the discontinuation of the product, but it sure worked excellent! Finally, when most refer to a "Jake Brake" that's because a trendy manufacturer of engine and exhaust brakes is "Jacobs" that's frequently shortened to a "Jake Brake." While each company makes a similar product, Pacbrake's braking products would not be considered a "Jake Brake" as that would be the competing product.

Q: What is the point of a remote oil filter kit?
A: If your truck has compound turbos or a larger than stock single turbo, you especially get it! With all of that in the way, its just hard to get to the oil filter. Pacbrake's line of oil filter relocation kits make life easier by relocating the filter to a more accessible location. The beauty is you're not cutting and splicing anything. You merely remote the oil filter, screw on the adapter and hose in its place, route that to the newly installed bracket location, reinstall your oil filter there, and you're done. And here's the pro trick from personal experience, combine a Pacbrake Remote Oil Filter Kit with a Fumoto Engine Oil Drain Valve and oil changes will never be easier.

Q: What is the warranty on Pacbrake products?
A: That depends on the product, whether its an exhaust brake, air bags, compressor, or other. Fortunately, Pacbrake typically includes warranty information and instructions on how to register your product for warranty, which is very important. If you didn't get that information, CLICK HERE to register.
