Japan Creates Heavy Duty Diesel Hybrid Truck

Japanese manufacturer Fuso is bringing the efficiency of hybrid to long haul trucks.

The truck, called the Super Great HEV (creative title, Japan) has a diesel engine, electric motor, and lithium ion battery.

Fuso calls the truck system a “parallel hybrid“, as it can run off of the electric motor, the diesel engine, or both at the same time. This parallel hybrid system tested at a 10% gain in fuel efficiency (when compared to heavy duty diesel engine trucks).

CEO and President of Fuso Dr. Albert Kirchmann says, “We want to be leaders in green technologies.” Fuso is certainly on its way.

Full details on the Super Great HEV will be revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show from November 30th to December 11th. Does anyone have an extra ticket?
