Alright, we'll admit it, we do like Ford's EcoBoost engines. As diesel enthusiasts, anything with a turbo (and especially two), has some level of coolness. That being said, when Ford announced there would be a "Baby Powerstroke" option for F-150's, we were pretty excited. While the EcoBoost has great power and decent fuel economy, it still can't produce the torque of an available diesel option and can't touch the fuel economy.

Based upon a similar ideology as its 6.7 big brother, the 3.0L DOHC V-6 Power Stroke features a CGI (Compacted Graphite Iron) block, forged crankshaft, and cast aluminum alloy heads and pistons for extreme rigidity. Airflow is tackled by a single VGT (Variable Geometry Turbo) that aids in maintaining optimum boost pressure for crisp responsiveness and low EGT's (Exhaust Gas Temperatures). Like many modern era diesels, fuel is delivered to the cylinders by highly efficient piezoelectric injectors running nearly 30,000 psi of pressure. This high pressure ensures that fuel is able to properly atomize in the cylinders for a clean, smoke-free combustion process. Overall, this engine is nearly identical to those installed into Australian Fords, Jaguars, Land Rovers, and several other models.

Now, where it gets impressive and far surpasses the spark plug ignited alternatives is in the power, fuel economy, and towing departments. While the 3.0 produces "only" 250 horsepower at 3250 RPM, it cranks out a whopping 440 foot pounds of torque at 1750 RPM, which allows for a max towing capacity of 11,400 pounds and a payload capacity of 2,020 pounds! And finally, you'd better sit down for this one, an EPA estimated 30 miles per gallon fuel economy. During independent testing, some testers were able to encroach the 40MPG level with a VERY light foot and perfect road and weather conditions.

With these kinds of stats, you may be asking how its possible to make this truck any better? Well, that's simple! We can help you finesse the truck to exactly your liking. Possibly you're looking to install larger tires and a suspension system for enhanced off road capability, no problem. Or maybe you'd like a little extra pulling power than what the factory numbers can deliver....we can help. Or maybe its just a cool new exhaust tip, yeah, we've got those too.

As always, if you’ve got any questions about which products are right for you and your 3.0 Powerstroke, don’t hesitate to give us a call and we would be happy to assist.
