Shutting your engine down after a heavy haul when the exhaust gas temperature (EGT) is above normal can result in turbo bearing damage—but now you can protect your turbo with BD’s Cool Down Timer (CDT). The CDT works with any K-Type EGT/pyrometer probe commonly found in most pyrometer gauge kits and has adjustable shut down temperature setting. Plus, five-minute timeout and quick shut down functions.
The new design of the CDT adds increased troubleshooting ability and new installation features plus the ability to work with vehicle security alarms and in reducing regeneration of the DPF on 2008-up vehicles.
If you don't already have an EGT/pyrometer probe, you can purchase the CDT with the appropriate probe as a kit in the selection below.
For owners of 2006-2016 Cummins, BD has released vehicle specific kits to reduce the installation time by as much as twenty minutes by utilizing inline plugs.

Can the EGT probe also send data to a temp gauge that I also want to purchase??
Yes as long as the EGT gauge uses a K-type thermocouple the timer will work. Most gauges will come with their own probe if it is a K-type you can use that one to tap into.
Is an added EGT probe necessary for the CDT to work on a 2013 Ford F350 6.7L??
Yes, you would have to have the EGT probe for the CDT to work properly.
do you have a plug and play kit for this on 2011 6.7? and will the egt probe be needed as well?
We do not offer a plug and play kit no, the egt probe would be required.
The universal kit says ""include EGT probe for temperature readings"", but the next selection says "" include EGT Probe $101"", In the first selection does a egt probe come with it for temp readings, and how long is the probe lead??
If you are purchasing the universal kit, the EGT probe is required for the unit to work. Therefor it is a drop down option to purchase for those that do not already have one. The probe lead is roughly 5ft. - AW
How technical is the installation? Does it require any special tools??
Would require wire strippers and soldering iron/heat gun for solder and heat shrink for the best results. DppSands
