    We at Diesel Power Products offer a deferred core program in which we allow you to defer the typical upfront core charge when purchasing via credit card payment. All cores, whether the core charge was deferred or not, must be returned within 21 days from delivery date of product requiring core charge. Failure to do so can result in forfeiture of the entire core charge return. In the event you originally deferred the core charge, you authorize Diesel Power Products to charge you for the core charge.

    All cores must be returned to the original warehouse that original shipment was sent from. If a return label is provided in the original shipment, use this tag. If one is not included, contact us immediately, and we can provide you with the correct address of where the core(s) must be returned to, as well as an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number. DO NOT rely on the return address on the original label as a source for where to ship to.

    If cores are shipped to the incorrect warehouse, your core money will be returned less the shipping cost for us to send the core(s) to the correct warehouse, or if you deferred the core you may be charged for the shipping amount.

    Cores that have been disassembled and/or have missing and/or damaged major components will not receive full core credit. Returned cores must be on a "like-for-like" basis, meaning that the returned core has the exact same fitment as the remanufactured component that was purchased. In the event that the core is not "like-for-like," your core may not be eligible for return / credit.

    Diesel Power Products has the right to alter this policy (i.e. extend the terms) for any reason. If you have an outstanding circumstance, contact us.

    What is a "Core Charge"?

    In order to understand what a core charge is, you must first understand what a core is. In the automotive industry, most products are manufactured from brand new materials. However, numerous products are also remanufactured, meaning that the manufacturer of the product takes a used product, typically removed from a vehicle, disassembles, and replaces all worn components of the master product. A great example of this is in regards to automatic transmissions in which the manufacturer takes an existing transmission, replaces all of the inner working components, such as the torque converter, valve body, etc. and merely reuses the case.

    Because aftermarket manufacturers require a steady stream of incoming cores to build, they charge a deposit on the core, known as a core charge, that is refunded upon receipt. In some cases, the core is not reusable, such as in the event of a cracked case, at which point the core deposit would not be credited as the core component is not reusable.

    If you plan on returning your core you have two options.

    OPTION 1:
    You can accept it, which means you will be charged for the part AND the core at time of purchase. You still have the option to send it back, and if you do, the core will be refunded back on the card used, presuming the core meets core criteria.

    OPTION 2 You can defer the core charge. If you defer it, you will not be charged a core at time of purchase. You will have 21 business days from the day you receive it to send it back. As long as the core is received within the 21 business days, you will not be charged. If 21 business days goes by and you do not send it back, the card on file will be charged the core amount. You still may send it back, and once received, we will issue the core amount as in store credit, pending any limitations as set forth by the manufacturer.Core deferral is limited to payment by credit card only.

Ensure that the power of your Cummins is getting to the ground with an ATS Transmission Package. The 47RE transmission is the weakest point on a Dodge Cummins truck. Not only do they fail on trucks with minor upgrades, but even trucks in stock form have been known to be too powerful. A heavy duty truck needs parts which can stand up to heavy trailers, stop-and-go commutes to work, or high-horsepower applications. That's why ATS modifies the transmission to make it the strongest and most reliable part of your drivetrain.

With the many shortcomings of the 47RE, none are more important than the clutch packs. This is what takes the power load and transmits it to the rear wheels. ATS transmissions increase the clutch count in the Forward, Overdrive, and Overdrive Brake clutch packs which allow much higher torque capacity in each gear. Clutch material is also essential which is why ATS uses Borg Warner and Raybestos clutches which has both high torque strength, as well as longevity and reliability.

Another important aspect is the hard parts on the transmission. The factory sheet metal strut anchor is replaced with a much stronger billet strut anchor, allowing more precision application of the band. The factory plastic accumulator piston is replaced with a billet unit, as well. The apply lever is a 1:3.8 ratio apply arm, which applies the Borg Warner red lining band. This band features a performance friction material capable of holding higher power levels.

The valve body receives extensive modifications, as well. The ATS valve body has the ability to lock the torque converter in 1st and 2nd gear and circulate transmission fluid in park/reverse/neutral. ATS also machines the TV valve passage and they install their own proprietary TV valve sleeve, and increase the line pressure. You can choose between a towing or a racing valve body. The towing version will deliver smooth, quick, crisp shifts that enhance the drivability and operation of your transmission on the street and attached to a trailer. This is the valve body of choice for a street driven all-purpose truck. The race valve body is their hardcore power build. It is made to sacrifice as little time as possible between shifts, shift hard and fast, and leave nothing behind. It is a very aggressive valve body and a minimum of billet input shaft and flex plate are recommended.

Please Note: This Stage 1 Transmission Package comes standard with a Towing Valve Body. If you prefer a more aggressive shift pattern please select the option above to switch to a Racing Valve Body. No additional charge necessary.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Some 2WD models have a mechanical speedometer sending unit mounted to the tailshaft housing of the transmission. For these applications, please select "Two Wheel Drive with Speedo Adapter."

I have a 2001 Dodge 3500 DRW, Cummins HO, NV5600 6 speed manual and I'm considering installing a automatic due to worsening left hip arthritis. I don't want to sell/trade because I like my truck, I know what's been done to it and how it's been treated and at 159,000 miles I consider it to have a long life ahead of it. Is there any reason I couldn't put one of these into my truck? What else would I need to make the conversion? I would prefer also, a lower than stock stall speed, one of your 1200 rpm converters if possible. Would that work and how much would it cost??

You would need the auto, cooler, line, shifter, pedal assembly. It might be beneficial to buy a truck with a bad engine or transmission. Rob everything you need out of it and swap over. Use the transmission for a core. Then resell the truck with all of the manual stuff.


Regarding the installation of the stage 1 transmission, is it recommended that the unit be installed and set up by a transmission shop or is it a process that a home mechanic can perform??

That would be up to you, in order to cover the full warranty for remove and replace it would need to be installed via a ATS authorized installation shop.


How much horsepower and torque would this handle?

The stage one would be rated for just above stock. I would say in a perfect world if the gear ratio matched the tire size. It could hold 350-375 pretty reliably. -Sands
