When offroading, having a winch is an invaluable tool to aid in recovery. However, a winch is only useful if you have something to actually attach it to! In many environments, such as desert, there are no trees to use as a winching point, and even if you're with multiple vehicles, when you're in the lead, you can't exactly attach to one of the other vehicles to move forward. Adding a ground anchor to your arsenal of recovery tools is a must to ensure you're able to forge on down the trail, or get home safe.
