HEAT! This is the number one killer of transmissions. Whether you tow or hotrod your diesel, transmission failures are something that we all worry about. You can help to alleviate some of that worry with one of BD's Double Stacked Xtruded Transmission Oil Coolers. This is the MOST capable cooling device for your transmission on the market.

BD has double stacked their proven Xtruded Transmission Oil Cores to deliver over 40,000 BTU/HR of cooling and over 350% temperature drop versus the factory system - still 136% better than BD's standard single core kit.

Using the same Micro Extruded bar technology as in BD's air-to-air Charge Air coolers, the 200 Micro Extruded passages in each cooler (400 in total) provide a large surface area to transfer heat for external air flow cooling while turbulent oil flow design promotes a more complete cooling.

Large 5/8-inch ports prevent inlet/outlet restriction and furnace brazed rails have been tested to 300psi of pressure. The thermostatically controlled 80-watt, 10-inch, 800 CFM electric fan offers ultimate automatic oil temperature control. Xtruded Double Stacked Transmission Oil Cooler packages are available to accommodate 1/2" and 5/8" transmission cooler lines and come complete with all fittings, clamps, hoses, hardware and a Build-It-Yourself galvanized bracket kit for quicker and cleaner installation, no wasting time fabricating brackets out of scrap metal. The pre-wired loomed harness with fuse and relay comes with OEM style sealed connectors to resist the elements.

Please choose from the options of your transmission oil line size. If you prefer to receive only the cooler itself and no brackets or lines, you may choose the "Cooler Only" option.

I would buy again if I need it too
Work as advertised, simple to install once you choose placement.great quality , the only thing I would change is the hoses instead of using clamps I would use braided hose with the proper fittings( no leaks) . But it will look better and last longer.

Yes I would buy again
Great build quality. Very well packed. The fan pulls a lot of air and is not to loud. But there were no stickers or any information in the box just the cooler. The fan duse not have the bd sticker on it like the shown in the ad. Besides that good so far. (And if you click the no lines it comes with nothing but cooler ) The fittings are a -10an if anyone was trying to find out.Have not installed yet will update when Installed

Thanks so much for the detailed review, look forward to updates.
Great cooler, but...
BD needs to spend more time putting this together. First off I would recommend this cooler, but there are some things you should know before you install it. 1st throw out the thermostat they send you, its complete garbage, and I'll explain why later. 2nd take the wires that are supposed to go to the thermostat and pull them out of the conduit, run them into the cab. There are a few things you can do at this point, I simply hooked them up to a switch and manually control the fan, you can hook the relay up to a switch and do the some, or some variation of whatever you'd like. 3rd take the bolt off the fan, flip the blades over, and put it back together, now take the connector apart and flip the wires so you have turned their fan from a pusher to a puller. The included instructions are vague on if its a pusher or a puller and contradict itself by saying put the fan toward fresh air, but then showing a pic with it away from fresh air. It makes a much better puller than a pusher. Now install it so the fan is away from fresh air and is pulling fresh air through the fins. I purchased this cooler just before I drove from Mississippi to San Diego, it stopped cooling somewhere outside of El Paso (just as I start getting into the desert of course) I ended up taking the wires off of the thermostat and just hooking them together so the fan was constiatny on and I could make it to San Diego. In conclusion, great great cooler/product, horrible absolutly terrible effort put in from BD. Toss the thermostat, flip the fan.

I will be putting on our other truck as well... soon!
Keeps temps cool while towing our heavy toyhauler up the Colorado mountains. With our elevation, temps can get up there on steep grades. Definitely recommend!

Yes I would!!!
this product is good with an lines, 8 an is the best for 48re also you will need reducers to connect the lines to the cooler, it is proven to cool very well best place to mount this product is under the vehicle. The only thing I did not like about this product was the aluminum rivets used to mount both coolers together!!

Thanks so much for the review and really glad you like the new trans cooler.

What temp is the thermostat set at? Also, can the thermostat be stacked with a toggle switch to manually turn on the fan before it reaches it's predetermined set temperature to cycle??

You could hook a manual bypass switch up for sure probably would be no need. The thermostat is set it 180 on 165 off.

Are these parts covered under any warranty? I just installed this summer and the fan motor has already burned out on my assembly.?

Yes, please call BD diesel directly.

Where is the optimum location you would recommend to install this cooler (it is a much thicker unit than others)? Is it a pusher, or puller type unit??

It comes as a pusher fan but can be swapped, the fan blade is reversible.

Is this a drop-in replacement for the current transmission cooler? I have a 2008 Ram 3500 6.7.?

No it is not. It is an auxiliary cooler to add in the system. It will not replace the factory cooler on that truck.
