The factory variable vane turbo on the 2003-2007 6.0L Powerstrokes feature a host of technology that, at the time of manufacturing, were relatively new to light duty diesels. The principles were great, but unfortunately, needed some refining before coming to market. Over the years, many of the limitations of the original design have reared their ugly heads and shown what the limitations are, as well as the failure points are, of these turbos.
